I'm Late!

That entire night Shinsou couldn't sleep. He kept tossing and turning, the things that ominous stranger had said to him not leaving his head once. He didn't understand why he was so stressed over this. It was probably just an empty threat, meant to be taken lightly. Yet there was still a part of him that just couldn't believe that.

When he heard his alarm blaring, Shinsou huffed, his eyes feeling much heavier than normal. He shut off his alarm and rolled over, staring at the ceiling. Well, he was staring, before his eyelids betrayed him. He didn't even have the energy to fight back, finally drifting off into a dreamless slumber.

But the next thing he knew, both Shinsou's parents were hovering over him, Yamada lightly tapping his cheek. Koneko was resting at his feet near the edge of the bed.

Shinsou jolted up which sent the cat running, surprised by the sudden movement. Shinsou groaned, holding his head with the sudden headache he got. "Ugh... What time is it?" he mumbled, his mind still slightly foggy.

"There he is! He's awake!" Hizashi cheered, ignoring his question.

"It's quarter past noon," Shouta had answered instead. Why did Shinsou feel like he had to be somewhere? He couldn't think clearly. He still needed his morning cups of coffee.

Then it hit him like a bullet. "Coffee!" he cried, trying to fumble out of his bed as he remembered he had to go to the cafe today, only to fall face-first onto the cold, hard floor with a loud thud. He didn't even have time to process the throbbing in his head from the fall and lack of sleep as he rushed to get changed, throwing off his pajama shirt.

"What's the rush?" his dad asked, watching him as he darted around the room, trying to cloth himself and get his things together.

"I've got a date," Hitoshi answered, only half paying attention until he heard his dad growing excited, making him stop in his tracks. "W-wait, no--"

"You have a date?" Hizashi screamed, bounding over to his son, crushing him in a big hug. "This is so exciting!" Shinsou tried to explain to him that it really wasn't a date, that he was just hanging out with someone who is almost a complete stranger when he stopped to think. Was this actually a date? Bakugou had said it's a date, but he meant "it's a date" like "it's a plan", right? That had to be it, even if he was a little hopeful...

Shinsou's thoughts were stopped when Aizawa's capture weapon wrapped around his husband, pulling him away from his son. "Leave him be," he told him. "It looks like he's running late." Shinsou nodded at his father as he finished getting ready. On any other occasion like this, he would have spent nearly thirty minutes trying to find the right outfit. But since he had slept in, he didn't have that kind of time, so he just went with a black hoodie and ripped denim jeans. It would have to do.

Not wanting to waste any more time, Hitoshi decided to skip breakfast. It was already lunchtime, anyways, and he could get something to eat as well as some coffee at the cafe.

Just as he was about to leave, though, his dads caught up to him.

"No, no, guys..." Shinsou started, hands out, knowing exactly what was coming next. They draped their arms around him in another tight hug, ensuring he couldn't escape. "Please." He struggled. "I'm gonna be late!" His parents didn't let up.

It was customary, before Shinsou left each visit, for the three to have a big group hug. It could last anywhere from one minute to ten, and the purple-haired man really didn't have the time for this right now. But thankfully, he had a plan.

"Um, hey dad?" His dad hummed in response. He'd need more than that. "Do you have any good advice for my... for my 'date'?" He would have made air quotes if his arms weren't being crushed by his parents. Aizawa suddenly realized what his son was doing, but before he could warn him, Hizashi was already talking.
