I have finally watched She-Ra season five.
It was great. Some things were not as great as they had hoped, and some were even better. I personally thought that Catra's redemption was a LITTLE rushed, but it's okay. I loved the amount of Spinnetossa this season, and honestly I'm glad that they managed to fit in Double Trouble, Razz, and Huntara SOMEWHERE. I didn't like the lack of the Horde Squad, but it's to be expected. I think I like how the shipping turned out.
Now, as for the rest of the rebellion: I thought Sea Hawk and Scorpia were pushed to the side a little too much, but mostly Scorpia. I like that each of the other princesses were developed a bit, and got some good screen time, but it stills bothers me that even by the end of the show we know pretty much nothing about them. I'm aware that this show was supposed to be more about "you are who you make yourself, you are not a product of your parents or your past," but... we knew Glimmer's and Bow's parents, and we knew that Adora and Catra had never known their parents. We knew that Scorpia had only heard about her grandad, but she never REALLY got to figure out that her family didn't just give up their runestone. Why? And why didn't they say anything about the others? We knew Mermista's father retired; did she have a mother, or another father? Siblings? Why did her father retire? Was he just getting old? We know nothing about Perfuma. Why is she the ruler? Are her parents dead, or was it just time for her to step up? Entrapta - it appears that she grew up in the castle, alone. Why? And why is Frosta, a literal child, ruling the second largest kingdom on Etheria? It seems pretty unlikely that she was supposed to inherit the throne at eight years old. So, where are her parents? What happened to them? Although I love this show, and these questions aren't that important, I wish these things hadn't been just... brushed aside.
For the whole season: I thought it was pretty good, and wrapped up nicely. There were very few things that I would have liked done differently.
For the future: I do hope that they do a spinoff or a sequel series, maybe about the Best Friend Squad trying to bring magic back to the galaxy, but encountering opposition, for the A plot, and the princesses back on Etheria recovering from their war-torn lives and making sure that there is no one left who wants to rule unjustly. I really think that Noelle could do it if she tried.I'm so sad that She-Ra is over; it meant a lot to me as a person. I'll be sad for a while, but I'll get over it. It was such a joy to be a part of this fandom! 💖💖💖
Also: My individual reviews for each episode will come later, when I rewatch them.
Thank you!
