Sam and Colby hard times

Hospital visit Pt 2

S- is Colby dead?
D- no he's not but there were some complications with the surgery.
S- W-what kinda of complications doc
D- well as we were taking out his appendix we noticed a tumor behind it. The tumor has spread a little bit but it doesn't seem to be cancerous so that's good news.

I couldn't believe the news I was hearing. Just because it isn't a cancerous tumor right now doesn't mean it can't turn into one.

S- but what if it does turn cancerous though.
D- that is a possibility it could happen. That's why we want to see him again in 4 weeks. In the meantime you can take him home but he needs to be on strict bed rest. He will be in a lot of pain for the next few days but we have written a schedule for you of all the medications he needs to take and when. If there are any problems at home call us immediately.
S- what kind of problems?
D- he will have a low grade fever for a few days but call us if it gets higher than 101.5. Also call us if he starts puking blood or if he passes out again.

40 minutes pass before they let me take Colby back home. As I'm driving back home I can't stop worrying about him. This person laying in my backseat crying is my BEST FRIEND. I can't lose him.

We get home and I help Colby get up to his bed. I check the meditation schedule and it says it's time to give him his pain meds.

S- is there anything else you need or something I can do for you?
C- no. I just want to sleep.

I leave Colbys room and go to my room to edit my video for Saturday. About 3 hours later I hear Colby calling my name I open his bedroom door and stick my head in.

C- I'm hungry Sam. Can you bring me something to eat?
S- sure. What would you like?
C- I don't care. Bring whatever.

I go downstairs to fix Colby a sandwich. He also likes Apples and peanut butter so I put a knife, apple and peanut butter on the tray with his sandwich and bring it up to him. When I enter his room he is curled up in a ball holding his stomach crying again. I set the tray down on his bed.

S- colbs you okay?
C- it hurts Sam.
S- the doctor said you would have pain for the next few days. I know it's hard though.
C- I need more pain meds.

I look at his meds chart.

S- it's not time yet colbs. Your next dosage isn't for another hour and a half.
C- "but it hurts bad Sam." Colby says as tears roll down his cheeks.
S- I know colbs. I'm sorry. Try to eat something and get your mind off the pain. I gotta finish editing my video but I'll be back to give you your meds.

I leave his room and go back to editing. I feel so bad for Colby. He is in pain and I can't do anything about it. Jake and Corey want me to help them film a video later today. We were supposed to do a slip n slide video but now we can't because we need to be inside in case Colby needs us so now we are going to do truth or dare jenga. I hear Colby call for me again.

S- what's up colbs?
C- I'm thirsty Sam.
S- I'll get you some water.

I run downstairs and get Colby a glass of water. I bring it into him.

C-it still hurts Sam. I need the pain meds.
S- I cant give you any for another 45 minutes. I know it hurts.
C- what time are we filming the video for Corey and Jake today?
S- the doctor said you need to stay in bed and rest. You're not filming with us today. I'm sorry colbs.

Colby starts crying again.

C- I know I'm in a lot of pain but I still want to have fun with you guys. This isn't fair.
S- I know colbs. You'll be back to normal in a week or so. I'll be back in 45 minutes.

I look at Colby who is crying once more before I turn to leave. I go downstairs to set up the Jenga game with the boys. We each take about 2 turns when I notice the time. I tell the boys I'll be right back because I have to give Colby his meds. I run upstairs and open Colbys door. What I see makes me fall to my knees.
Colbys is sitting upright in his bed crying harder than I've ever seen holding a knife above his chest.

S- COLBY NO. DON'T DO IT. PLEASE.
