Sams POV
This took place before I met Colby. When Colby was 11 his parents had to go out of town for the week for work business so Colby stayed at his friends house that week. Colby trusted them or at least he thought he could. He later found out that he hast to be careful with who to trust.

I look over at Colby who is shaking a bit. I can tell he's thinking back to what happened that day. I squeeze his hand to remind him I'm right here.

On his second day of staying with his friend he started to come down with some sort of bug. It was either the flu or an ear infection. He told his friends parents that he didn't feel good and they kept telling him he was faking it or just home sick.

When Colby got a really bad headache and stomach ache he asked them if he could have some medicine and they said no. He tried to push through the pain and sleep it off but it wasn't working. When he woke up with a fever and was cold he asked them for a blanket or a hoodie. They got mad at him.

They told him he was being a burden. They said he should stop asking for things because they only agreed to watch him for the week not pamper or care for him. They told him that if they heard him ask for one more thing that they would make him sleep on the street.

So when Colbys fever rose and he started to feel hot he didn't know what to do. So instead of asking he walked over to his friend and started fanning his face. His friend understood what Colby was trying to say so he asked his parents if he could turn on the air conditioning. From then on if Colby needed something he would just do something strange or try to show what it was that he needed and pray that someone would understand what he needed.

I start coughing. All this talking is making my throat hurt again. Colby can tell my throat is bothering me so he jumps into the conversation.

Colbys POV
That's why when I'm sick I don't ask for anything

Nate- is that way you didn't ask me to pull over when you felt like you were going to throw up? Because you thought you were being a burden?

I nod my head and start to cry. It's hard for me to talk about this. I start to get worked up and within seconds I'm in the bathroom throwing up again. Sam and Nate come in. Sam kneeled down next to me and started to rub my back like he normally does. It calms me down. Sam coughs again.

Nate- it's clearly time for you guys to take your second dose of medication. It looks like the first dose wore off.

Sam eats an apple sauce and half of a granola bar before taking his pill. Nate walks over to me and hands me an apple sauce and granola bar also. I shake my head no.

Nate- Colby you have to. Haven't you learned your lesson yet.

Nate is getting frustrated again. I start backing up until my body is pressed against Sam. I feel Sam put his hands on my shoulders. I turn around and look at him.

Sam- it's okay colby. Eat the food. Remember how it made you throw up multiple times outside and feel worse because you took it without food the first time? I ate food and nothing happened to me. Trust me. It's okay.

I slowly back away from Sam and take the food from Nate. I get back in the bed and slowly start eating.

Nate- seriously? You listen to Sam who told you to do the same thing I did but you didn't listen to me. What difference does it make whether it's me or Sam.

I look over at Sam and give him a nod to continue.

Sams POV
That's where the second part of Colbys story comes in. Colby continued to feel worse and worse. He asked his friend while crying if he could get some Tylenol but his friend said he's not allowed in the medicine cabinet with permission from his parents.
