Chapter 16: You're My Favorite Song

Time flies so fast when you're happy.

Our performance day is getting closer, and my nerves aren't getting easier. However, hindi naman pwedeng org lang ang life ko. That's why I beamed when Gabe told me we were going somewhere.

He told me to dress comfortably, so I was scanning my shelves at napahinga ng malalim habang naghahanap ng isusuot.

Ang lakas ng anxiety ko. I kept fighting the thought that I should stay in my house rather than meet new people. I have to learn how to handle my anxiety at times like these.

I can't stay in my comfort zone forever, right?

He plans and prepares stuff for me, and I want to meet him halfway. I want to learn things about him outside school and Org. Besides, my social battery doesn't deplete kapag siya and kasama ko.

After numerous outfit changes, I dressed up in a peach tube top, a cropped cardigan, high-waisted white shorts, and white sneakers. Putting on light makeup, a silver watch, stud earrings, and my chain purse that has my phone and cash.

Pinuntahan ko agad ang isang guard na naka station sa harap ng bahay at binigay ang info ni Gabe, "Hi. Susunduin ako ni Gabriel later, paki inform nalang ang nasa front gate." Tumango siya sa'kin at nagsalita sa earpiece thingy niya so I smiled and thanked him.

"Miss Jamie, nandito na po yung bisita niyo." Mabilis akong napatayo mula sa pagkakaupo sa couch nang marinig ang isang helper. I immediately thanked her, rushing outside while hearing my shoes squeak on the tiled floor.

The door slammed behind me nang lumabas ako ng bahay. "Hi Princess!", and I immediately see his white audi R8 na nakabukas na agad ang pintuan sa passengers seat.

He waved at me and I smiled, running inside the car.

"Hi!" I looked around. One time, he drove me home from school, and the car was full of clothes, paper, and random stuff na pinalinis ko talaga sa kanya dahil I wouldn't get in pag hindi.

"Did I pass the clean examination?" Nakataas ang kilay niya sa'kin kaya natawa ako. He looks so fine with his simple beige t-shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes.

"Yes, you did. So where are we going?" I grinned at him, fixing my seatbelt, and he passed me my green tea before starting the car. "Thank you." I nodded at the taste and gave it to him para siya naman ang tumikim.

"It's a surprise." He said, grabbing my hand para mas lumapit and inumin sa kanya.

Napailing nalang ako. He's always full of surprises.

Along our journey, while we're in the middle of the road and I'm drinking, he covered my legs with his hoodie na kinuha niya sa backseat, nagtataka akong tumingin sa kanya. "Hm? I'm not cold."

I was about to give it back to him pero hinawakan niya ang kamay ko to stop me, "Tumutulo ang tubig sa legs mo."

I smiled, understanding he noticed the water droplets dripping from our drinks towards my thighs. "Thank you, Mr. Maquinto."

I played music, talked about our day, at paminsan minsan ay nakikiinom sa kanyang iced latte. I guess, ilang oras din kaming nasa kalsada since sakto sa rush hour ang byahe namin.

Nang bumabagal ang takbo ni Gabe at dumadami na ang kotse sa paligid, napatingin ako sa labas.

"We're in a race track?" I squinted my eyes at the signage we passed by and looked around, seeing countless people with booze in their hands, "We're on a race track!"

Bigla akong na excite, I'll see his racer side that I rarely see. When he's with me, he doesn't exceed the speed limit. When he does, it's always jokingly at babagalan niya agad. Alam ko namang nagiingat lang siya but I'm just so fascinated with his love for speed.
