One on One

For a minute, the three of you stand in silence. Shoto faces you and Deku from the wall parallel to the wall you lean on.

Soon enough, the silence is broken, and he starts asking Deku if he's "All Might's secret love child or something". You conceal your laughter, but then ask him why he called you to talk. "At the USJ... I saw you conversing with that villain -Shigaraki, correct?-. I'm curious, what were the two of you talking about?"

It feels like forever ago and only yesterday that you had that little talk with Tomura Shigaraki. 

He offered me the option to join him... and said we could've been friends...

You decide it's best not to tell anyone, and lie a bit. "I don't really remember, to be honest. Most of the USJ attack is a blur to me now, though I remember him knowing my name already... strange, right?"

He stares at you, glancing up and down your body every now and then. "..... Sure."

He then proceeds to talk directed mostly towards Deku, saying stuff about Deku's relation to All Might and his own relation to Endeavor, the Number 2 hero. After that, he tells about his childhood... specifically how he got his scar.

Your eyes widen, your head hanging low. Slowly, you stumble towards him, carelessly dragging your body in his direction until your head hits his chest. You just stand there for a moment, with him staring at you confused.

A few seconds pass before you wrap your arms around him, pulling him into a gentle hug. "Shoto... I'm so, so sorry. You... you really deserve so much better." He notices the tears about to spill over your eyelashes and flinches momentarily.

He doesn't react much, so you let him go. A sound down the hall grabs your attention, so when Shoto and Deku walk away, you follow it to find Katsuki lurking. You both just stare at each other, no words needed.

The two of you stand there, and shortly after just walk quietly to the cafeteria. Mineta and Denki tell the girls of your class that you have to wear cheerleader uniforms, so Momo creates them and you walk back to the arena.

However, the boys were lying.

With a sigh, you walk over to Katsuki and get the top of his gym uniform. He has a white tank top on underneath, so it's fine for both of you until you can go get your own. 

Midnight announces that the matchups for the final round will be decided by choosing lots, but two people -Ojiro and someone from a different class- withdraw because they don't remember the cavalry battle. Two people take their places, and you draw the lots.

You get a girl named Shiozaki. While you all wait for this round to start, there are some games. However, you decide to sit in a waiting room -partially to get and change into your gym uniform, then returning Katsuki's- and think. It doesn't take long before you get bored, so you decide to go outside.

Incidentally, you run into Shoto, who is sitting outside against the corner of the building. You sit down next to him, but neither of you say anything. That is, until, he says, staring at the sky, "Y/n... thank you. Earlier... that... thanks."

A smile forms across you lips, and you nod. "But... that doesn't mean I'm not going to do everything I can to beat you," he brings his gaze down to you as he speaks, eyeing your features carefully.

Blushing, you nod again. "Ok, but so will I."

Before you know it, it's time for the final round to start. The first match is Deku versus Shinso. You sit next with your class, impatient to see how this will go, and for your own match.

Shinso says some stuff to Deku, which Deku responds to by running at him and shouting something. Then, he stops. 

Shinso must've used his quirk... sorry Deku, but I think you just lost this.

He starts walking out of bounds, but suddenly he flicks his fingers and is snapped out of the trance that is Shinso's brainwashing. Panting, he turns back to the purple-haired boy, a determined look on his face. 

He charges Shinso and tries to push him out of bounds, only to get punched. Even so, he still manages to throw him onto his back and out of the ring.

.....

You both.... wow....

The next match starts and end quickly. Sero wraps tape around Shoto, only to be frozen by a massive ice attack. Less than a second after the ice, you light up a fire, just in case. The ice doesn't quite touch you or anyone else in the stands, but almost.

The audience starts chanting "Nice try" at Sero, while Shoto -and you, not to mention- melt the ice. You notice something; Shoto looks... really sad while melting it.

You start walking to the waiting room, but soon have to make your way to the ring. Present Mic introduces you, but she critiques his description of her. After that's done with, the match starts.

Walking up to her, your left arm on fire, you burn through the vine wall she set up. You continue walking towards her, and start walking faster, until she's right at the line. It takes a small push and she falls out of the ring, making you the winner.

Your hand outstretched, you help her up and smile. "You.. you did really good. Those vines were pretty awesome, you know." She smiles back, and you both walk back to the stands.

The next few rounds pass by quickly, until Ochaco against Katsuki. He seems to be winning, until she lets the rocks she floated fall. Unfortunately for her, he explodes them away, and starts attacking again.

However, you notice something that the rest of the crowd doesn't.

Usually, he calls the other students, excluding you, by some nickname. This time, he calls her "Uraraka."

He isn't fighting her at full power just to be cruel, he's fighting her at full power out of respect. He's doing this because he acknowledges her strength.

The fight ends when she passes out, and a bit of sadness enters your mind. You knew how this would end; he outmatches her overwhelmingly. Still, it would've been great to see her win this. Although, if you told him that, it wouldn't be pretty.

The next fight is...

Shoto versus Deku.
