Remember me (a Kylo Ren story)

II.

It's been eight years.

Eight years. Two thousand, nine hundred, and twenty days since the last time I saw Ben Solo. He was now known as Kylo Ren, Master of the Knights of Ren. He was the commander of The First Order, our sworn enemy. That night after Ben left the temple, I used a holopad to inform Princess Leia and Han of what happened to their son, and Master Skywalker. Leia had a ship piloted by Poe Dameron to come and rescue me and bring me back to Chandrila. Han and Leia awaited my arrival at docking bay, I ran off the ramp and into Leia's arms. "I'm so sorry, I couldn't stop him. Someone from the dark side was calling out to Ben and I.  

I didn't listen but they got into his head, he murdered the students and destroyed the temple." My sobs croaked out of my chest. "Sh, it's okay. Emery, you did everything you could. You tried to pull him back. I'm just glad you didn't join him; I would hate to lose you both." She pet my hair as she held me. "I'm gonna bring him back to you and to me, even if it's the last thing I do." I made my promise to Han and Leia and I wasn't going to break it.

Unfortunately the betrayal of their son ripped Leia and Han apart, both of them returning to the only thing they knew. For Han, it was being a smuggler and making deals he couldn't keep. For Leia it was leading the resistance, and doing everything in her power to find her brother Luke. I spent the first four years back with Leia, training and building up the resistance. Poe taught me how to fly high and handle the guns below, saying it might come in handy one day. My free time was spent running a training course and strengthening my skills within the force. I knew that if I were going to bring Ben back, I had to be stronger than ever.

The other four years I spent alongside Han and Chewie, learning to smuggle, pick locks and hijack ships, all while searching for Han's beloved Millennium Falcon. An irritating beep from the ship radar broke my thoughts. "Han! We've got something!" I could already hear Han running towards the cockpit of the ship we were inhabiting. The animalistic roar from Chewie informed us that we had found the Falcon, orbiting just outside of Jakku. 

"Chewie, gain control over it and pull her in. We got her! Emery get your saber ready in case we got trouble." Stowing my saber onto my belt, I follow Han and Chewie into the loading dock of our ship. The Falcon, though damaged and dirty, stood directly before us. Han walked towards his old friend and pulled up the entrance hatch. The three of us piled in the empty ship, until we heard the beep of a droid below us.

Han pulls back the metal floor gate to reveal a girl, a boy and BB-8. "BB-8 how did you get here? Where's Poe?" I asked as I pulled him up to the main floor level. His beeping sounds are much too fast for me to understand. "Slow down bud." His beeping slows and he reveals to me that Poe was taken by the First Order but he still has the missing piece to the map for Luke. "Alright who are you and why do you have my ship?" Han's integration has already begun. "I'm Finn, I helped Poe escape the First Order, but our ship went down causing us to crash on Jakku. BB-8 found me and before I could explain who I was, the First Order attacked Jakku looking for BB-8 and I." I glanced up to see Han's face; the mention of the First Order made him think of his son. 

"What happened to Poe?" My heart is racing as I wait for Finn to speak. "He didn't make it, I'm sorry." Tears fill my eyes as I blink them away. Poe was my first and only friend on the base. Chewie groans his response, as Han asks about the girl. "I'm nothing but a scavenger, I just happened to save BB-8 from being sold for parts, then I ran into Finn. We took the Falcon to escape the First Order and take Finn and BB-8 back to the Resistance base." Something had me drawn to this girl but I couldn't put my finger on it. "I'm Em, and you are?" My hand reached out for her to shake it, and as our hands touched, we were thrown into a vision. A memory we shared together.
