I cleaned all the tables and the manager walk up to me.

"Ruby, after that you can go home, I bet you're tired already. Look at your eyebags it's so dark that it made you looked like a panda." She joked, trying to lighten up my mood. I smiled and laughed a little even if it's not funny. I nodded, she was about to walk away but I called to stop her.

"Ummm... Ms. Lei, can I ask you something?" I asked. She gestured for me to go on.

"Umm... I.. uh.. can I.." I told her about the payment of my apartment and the amount of money I have to pay. Luckily, she approved my request and gave me my allowance. I took off my apron and hairnet, untying, and losing down my hair.

I huffed as I stared at my reflection in the mirror. My hair was slightly curled up from the bun. I washed my face and wore my cap before walking out of the cafe, not forgetting to bid a goodbye to my manager.

Now my next shift is in a convenience store. Tomorrow, I have a shift again in this store at 7 pm so I have my time doing the laundry in the morning.

The bell chimed as I entered the store. I greeted my manager and went to the toilet in the staff room to change my clothes. I tied my hair again into a bun and grabbed the mop. I walked out and began to clean the floor from aisle to aisle and in front of the counter. I put the mop back inside the stock room as soon as I ended cleaning the floor.

I walked towards the boxes and pulled one that contains almond milk inside. I opened the box and grabbed two packages of it. I left out of the stock room and neatly placed the almond milk one by one in the fridge. I startled when I heard the bell jingled, implying that a customer came in.

I quickly moved to the counter and stood there, watching the tall man walking through the aisles. Looking through the junk foods and to the ice cream fridge. He stopped and placed his hands above the ice-cream fridge. I'm guessing, he's choosing what flavor to buy. He's wearing a black stylish cap, black T-shirt and white pants. I took a glimpse at his hands that are resting above the fridge. My eyebrows creased at the sight of his hands. That long slender fingers looked so familiar to me...

Before I could think any further, the male abruptly strode towards the fridge where the almond milks were recently placed by me. He opened the door and grabbed one, two---- five almond milk. I assume he love those.

He turned around and walks to the counter with the milk securely handled against his chest. I can't see his face because he's busy looking down at it. Once he carefully placed the items on the counter, I immediately work on it.

"Ruby?.." the male said. I stopped putting the milk inside the plastic bag and slowly looked up at the male.

"Zack?" I called. I stared at him, wide-eyed. Same as him.

I blinked my eyes and asked for the payment. He pulled out his wallet and placed the money on my palm but before I could retrieve my hand, he held my wrist. I looked up at him, stunned.

Seriously, what's with meeting them in my job? It's getting annoying.

"You work here?" He questioned. I scowled and pulled my wrist from his hand.

"Isn't obvious?" I sarcastically responded and put the money in the cashier. I looked back in front and saw him still standing in front of me.

"Aren't you leaving?" I said. Crossing my arms across my chest and raising my eyebrow at him. He turned red and mutters 'sorry' at me before going outside. I sighed and rubbed my temples. So what's next? meeting the guitar boy or Kai somewhere later? Ugh!

I checked the time on my phone. It's 3:59 pm. 3 more hours and my shift will end.

I'm heading home, holding a plastic bag with a cup of ramen and one almond milk inside of it. My hair is loose again and thank Gahd I didn't forget to untie it. It's starting to get chilly outside so I must hurry to go home. The kitten must be hungry right now.

The apartment building starts to appear in my vision as I got closer and closer. I jumped when lightning strikes. I looked up at the sky and the clouds start to form. Suddenly, water lands on my cheek, followed by a second one and another until it's dripping non-stop. It's raining.

I sprinted to my apartment. I was about to get my keys in my pocket when I saw my bags on the carpet in front of the door and the kitten curled up on the basket beside it, shaking and wet. I walked up to the door and saw a post note on it. I took the note and read it.

'From now on, you're no longer living here, go find another apartment. I don't care if you have the payment. I don't want you here anymore'

The note says. The handwritten is ugly. Just like that old lady. I look at the kitten that is shaking from cold and wetness. I gripped the paper in anger. Not because she kicked me out. It's because of the kitten. She could have at least fucking wrapped the kitten with a warm blanket. That fucking old merciless lady. She should marry that bald man. They're so much alike. Hope they die already. I don't mean it. Slightly.

I immediately pulled out my only two jackets. A raincoat and a comfortable thick one. I decided to wear the thick one and wrapped the kitten with a new cloth. I covered my school bag with a raincoat before slinging it over my shoulders. I grabbed the kitten with one hand and hide it under my jacket. Once it's settled, I took my suitcase and run away.
