Cole's POV
"Cole Parker. Here to see Hattie Johnson, please." I wait as patiently as I can at the thought of seeing Hattie for the first time in what seems like forever for the receptionist to tell me where to go.
It's been a couple of weeks since Hattie has been in the rehab centre, meaning she only has one compulsory week left. I haven't seen her since she left because she was only allowed family visitors after one week and non-family members after two, which is complete and utter bullshit if you ask me, but there was nothing I could do.
"She's currently in the day room doing some work so if you want to just go straight ahead and it's the first door on the left." She smiles politely and signals the path I have to follow.
Walking through this place is a weird experience. It's better than I expected it to be, which makes me happy that Hattie is in a safe and nice looking place. I would hate for her to be locked up somewhere like a prison.
Following the directions the receptionist told me, I am led into a small room where one of the walls is just a big window, showing a forest on the outside. My eyes immediately land on the petite figure sitting on one of the couches in the middle of the room. She's rapidly writing notes in a book sat on her knee. Her legs are folded up to her chest and concentration is evident on her face. I stand in the doorway for a second, just taking in the sight of this beautiful girl sitting in front of me, completely oblivious to anything happening around her.
She is wearing a light pink flowy dress, which is hanging off of her small frame perfectly. Her blonde hair is cascading down her back and shoulders in small waves. Looking at her face, I can see that she is wearing a little bit of makeup, but not too much, just like she did back home. God, I've missed her.
"Hattie." I say quietly, taking a few steps into the room and towards her.
She looks up immediately and for a second she shows no expression, scaring me into thinking she doesn't want me here. After a second though her face breaks out into a huge smile as she drops her notebook and runs over to me, pulling me into a hug. It takes me a second to fully realise what's happening as Hattie has never been this openly affectionate before but I soon get over it and wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her as close to me as she can physically get.
"I've missed you so much." she whispers as she pulls back to look me in the eyes.
"I've missed you too, love." I lean down and kiss her forehead, not certain of where we stand with each other anymore.
"Happy Valentine's Day, by the way. I got you this..." I reach around and pull a small box out of my pocket.
She reaches forward and takes it out of my hand, uncertainty evident in her eyes. Fear takes over my mind at the thought of possibly overstepping by getting her a present. I mean, technically she tried to break up with me but I know she didn't mean it. That doesn't mean the thought of that moment doesn't break my heart any less though.
