Hypnotized

Today is the first day of school. I don't usually have anxiety about these sorts of things but coming back made me nervous. I'm sure Betty wasn't fond of me being back, Reggie definitely won't want to talk to me, and I worry if I'll have to take abuse from Cheryl this year.

"Hennessy, scoot closer to your brother! Aww my babies are getting so big!" My mother exclaims as she gets Josh and I's picture.

"Mom, we're going to be late!" Josh says in an annoyed tone.

"Just one more for Mama's boy!" Grayson teased, as he stands behind mom.

"We have to go, Josh let's go!" I say. I drag Josh by his hand and lead him out of the apartment. Josh got his license while I was gone, so now I have my own personal chauffeur to school. Although, I'd have to walk home because he has football practice because personally, I'm scared to drive.

I take a deep breath before I walk into the big double doors of Riverdale High and instantly feel the butterflies. I wave to a few friends I haven't seen in a while, like Kevin and Josie. Nothing has seemed the change, except maybe the posters on the walls.

I almost instantly bump into Cheryl in my first-period class.

"Chacha, I heard you were back. It took you long enough to find your way to me." Cheryl smiles at me. She was Surprisingly more cheerful towards me than before.

"Yeah, I just got back yesterday." I smiled back. I set my bag on the desk next to hers.

"How was the sunny west side, lots of beaches and boys?" She winked.

"Oh yeah, more than i could count." I giggled, as I found my seat next to her.

"If I were you, I would've never left." She rested her head in her hand.

It was a relief to find someone that wasn't still upset with me from last year.

The teacher soon came in to start his first-day speech. The rest of the day seems to speed by. I had a few classes with other people I knew like Archie, but I haven't seen Reggie or Jughead yet.

I decided to try to find someone I knew at lunch. I wonder the empty halls of Riverdale trying to find my way to the lunchroom before finally running into Reggie. He dug in his locker, he tried to ignore me.

"Hey..." I say quietly. He looked at me coldly and slammed his locker door shut. He bumped shoulders with me as he walked by. I stumbled back when he made contact with my shoulder. He was mad, very mad. He had every right to be though. I just thought he'd be more forgiving towards me. I sigh in defeat as I watch him stomp down the empty hallway.
