Chapter Twenty Four

Loki

As soon as Lienna was asleep, I put on my armor. I realized that I had made a promise to keep her safe, even if that meant entering her mind without permission. I didn't go deep, only finding what had hurt her this way.

Now I was hell bent on tearing Ander apart. Messing with Lienna was not something you could easily get away with. I had done treacherous things in my past and I would not hesitate to add more to my record in the name of love.

I slipped some of the sharpest knives I owned into their sheaths, though I highly doubted I needed them with the rage boiling inside me. Ander had crossed the one line he shouldn't have. Now he had to face the swift punishment at the hand of Loki Laufeyson.

I burned inside, my muscles clenching and my mind spinning. How dare he?!

I teleported myself to the dungeon, striding quickly. I could feel magic surging to the tips of my fingers already, and I hadn't even seen the monster of a man.

Suddenly I was in front of him.

He noticed me right away. Ander stood up, straighening his back and pushing his shoulder back to complete an imposing picture. He was shorter than me, but still looked menacing. Ander's eyes were sunken in, and burned with a fire of bitter anger. He seemed to be insane, and it was almost a guarantee that he was.

"The Frost Giant has come to see me? Excellent," he growled.

I wasn't going to be the one to stall. "You threatened her. You messed with her mind. You taunted and tortured her with your disgusting lies and fantasies that she would actually love you! You are a fool, a starry-eyed, confused, and vile being."

I slammed my fist against the magic barrier. I had spent my time in one of these cells, and I knew how to take one down.

I let the Frost Giant inside take over. My skin was a deep blue, and fear was gone.

Ander's eyes widened. Perhaps he had never angered a Frost Giant, or a prince who had some of the blackest magic on his side.

I stepped through the barrier, and shoved him up against the wall. "If you believe that I will hesitate to spill your blood because it is not my matter, you are sorely mistaken."

His skin began to burn from the cold. Ander became frantic, grasping at my hands, which resulted in frost burns on his own.

"Get off me you wretched beast! Lienna is not safe around you!" he screamed.

"The only person she is not safe around is you!" I pressed my thumbs into his throat. He shrieked loudly, and coughed. Choking was brutal, and it was what he deserved.

I lifted him up, ready to crush his esophagus. "You do not deserve to live!"

I threw him against the wall harshly, reveling in the sound of cracking bones. He thrashed around, coughing up blood.

"Loki!" Lienna yelled. I spun around to face Odin, Frigga, and Lienna. The Frost Giant disappeared, and all that was left was Loki, the unwanted. I fell to my knees. This had all happened too fast, too carelessly.

Odin waved his hand through the barrier. "Come with me."

I stood up, ashamed. I didn't meet Lienna's eyes, for fear of what I would see.

Lienna

Frigga held me close to her, and I was grateful. I did not want to see Loki like that ever again. I didn't know if I wanted to see Loki ever again. Frigga took me up to her room.
