The Story of The Lover: PART I

[KIM HYUNJI]

I am not okay.

"Put it in! PUT IT IN!"

The crowd as a whole is noisy, full of chants and cheers, but no one can beat this one guy with lip-piercings. He keeps screaming at the top of his lungs, a way for him to receive sharp glares from the people that surround him, including me who am unfortunately seating beside him, just right beside him. I thought being near the staircase could never be worst. I am in hell.

"FUCK!"

He screams again, now stomping his shoes on the ground, whining every time his favorite basketball team misses the ball. I feel like my poor ears are about to break down - I'm about to break down - and for this reason I decided to moved away from him. Nonchalantly, I lifted my bum and slammed it on the vacant seat next to mine. It's no help, I can still hear his ear-splitting voice, but I was hoping he would notice how grave inconvenience he is. The said seat was supposedly saved for my bestfriend, now my old seat belongs to her.

"I SAID PUT IT IN! THE HOLE IS WAITING!"

Can't he just simply say shoot the basketball? And it's called a ring, not a hole. I rolled my eyes. When will he shut his mouth?

Few minutes have passed before I finally get used to his noise. I solely focus on the basketball game instead, a very huge help.

Cheap entrance fee and extracurricular points are the few things that inspired me to watch this school sports fest, together with my tardy bestfriend Hana. The school officials also named this as a 'charity' event in which the income will be given to an orphanage.

Some say it's a true act of kindness, while some say it's just a gimmick, convincing students in spending money for a boring event like this, but I don't care nonetheless. As long as I get to see handsome men in the gym and receive my extracurricular points, then we're good.

"Excuse me, miss." My mind was flying away, I didn't realized someone has been tapping my shoulder for a couple of times now.

And it's surprising to know who it was.

Park Jimin, the most famous and handsome taekwondo student in our university. A true gem.

I corrected my slouched posture and sat myself upright. A smile spread out on my lips, not showing my teeth of course, as I tucked my hair behind my ear. "Yes?" Oppa? I wanted to call him oppa, but that would be a reach. Just who would have thought that one of the school heartthrobs will approach me in this boring event? Maybe it shouldn't be named boring at all.

But the smile on my face slowly fades away once he speaks.

"Is this seat vacant?" He smiled back, and I froze.

I froze not because of his angelic smile - well maybe a bit - but mostly because of his abrupt question. Did he just ask me if it's okay to sit beside me and use the chair that I reserved for my bestfriend?

A Park Jimin wants to sit beside me?

Am I dreaming?

But he is asking for my bestfriend's chair though.

I bit my lip, looking like a dumbass who wants to go to the bathroom, contemplating everything and stressing myself out.

Handsome guy, or stubborn bestfriend?
