do you want to know Faiths great idea?
Britains Got Talent.
i stare at Faith.
"How is that going to change my life forever?"i say scathingly. she grins at me, eyes bright.
"Because you can sing amazingly!" i blink... i used to sing, sure... before i got ill... but recently my confidence been hiding in a place i just can't reach.
"I can't sing..." i whisper. i look away, out of the window i can see my reflection, cool and sad, a ghost girl hidden by the windows which are weeping over a thousand tears.
"Grace you were the best singer in primary school EVER! everyone wanted to be like you..." she glances at me sideways. i drag a hand across my eyes so she can't see the tears blurring my vision. i used to be good... but i can't go up on stage now. looking like this.
"No one wants to be like me now..." i look away. my eyes filling up with tears.
"Exactly! that's why you have to do this! Once everyone sees you singing up on the stage... they'll be dead jealous!" she looks at me eagerly.
"I... I... well... ok then."
"YESSS!" she flings her arms around me and gives me the biggest smile.
"But... but what will i sing?" i look at her apprehensively, unsure of what to do. i feel i might have bitten off more than i can chew. she pauses, then her frown smoothes out and she smiles.
"I've got the perfect song! Hero, by Massiah Carey!" i pause, then smile. i nod slowly.
"Ok... it just might work!"
"It will work!" She grins excitedly, then takes out a crumpled piece of paper. it has audition times and dates and addresses....
"Come on then Grace... lets get practicing!"
