"Come on, Ren. Is that the best you've got?"
Jade made a snide comment at her counterpart, smirking as he returned the expression. "Not even close." He lowered his eyes just before lunging at her.
The previous night felt like a bad dream, one she never wanted to relive. Kylo was very cautious with her, respecting her space but equally worried about her. Similarly to when she got hurt, he carried her to her room. The weeping never stopped until she was met with her silken sheets, exhaustion taking over as she finally fell asleep.
Asleep. Where only in these dreams, at least they weren't real. Right?
The next morning, Kylo met her at her quarters. It looked like she barely slept all night. Her eyes were sunken in a bit, but she still followed him to training. Once there, she was very quiet, only talking if he said something to her. She stretched in silence as Kylo watched, not sure of what to say.
Eventually, she came around to him. She was trying to shake off the cloud covering her mind. They had silently made up from the argument they had the day before and now all she wanted was an embrace. Which is exactly what she got when she shuffled over to him, wrapping her arms around his torso. It made her feel good. More human.
Their practice with the staffs ceased, Jade strolling over to her water bottle to hydrate herself. Wiping her slick mouth with the back of her hand, she turned to look at him laying on his back. "Can I request something?" she said timidly, shifting a bit in her shoes.
Kylo quickly stood up, eyes locked on her pretty green ones. "Of course. What is it?"
"C-Can we, maybe...Can we practice with..." Her eyes traveled over to the lightsabers hanging on the wall. She had been eyeing them for a long time, she wanted to try it out. Needing to see how it felt.
A lump hit Kylo's throat as he sighed, nodding his head slightly as he went to the wall. Of course, he would be using his, but he needed to find her the perfect saber. His hand landed on the pure black hilt, small silver buttons lining the side. "Perfect." With the saber in hand, he walked back to her, handing it off.
Her small hands caressed the piece of metal, being as gentle as possible with it. "Please be careful," he spoke softly to her, her eyes admiring it in awe, "I would hate to see you get hurt again."
A soft laugh escaped her lips as her eyes met his. "I promise." Silence. Comfortable but tense silence. She could feel her heart ready to burst out of her chest as they both gazed upon each other. Infatuated. Stuck in the moment.
His large hands reached down to the hilt now encased in her palms as he got behind her. He guided her as he propped her into the correct position. "Just like staff combat," she remarked, eyes trained ahead at the snow drifting slowly outside. The feeling of his bare skin against hers, their bodies practically pressed together. She needed to focus.
"Similar, yes. However, one wrong move and you're dead. You always want to hold it out in front of you, especially when you're just starting." He gulped, flashes of what he did to her last time he was showing her a new weapon. Pushing the thought aside, trusting himself and her, he placed her thumb over the button, sliding it up.
The red blade cracked up in front of her face, a steady beam now shining over her face. Thoughts of what the blade could do sparked inside of her. What she could do with it. Who she could hurt.
You were born for much more than being Kylo Ren's apprentice...
Her eyes went from excitement to lifeless as the voice echoed in her brain. An invisible hand grasping her chin, lifting it up. Her body stood in the room but her mind and soul was somewhere else. Somewhere far. Kylo looked at her strange, before breaking the connection between the two. "Jade..." He stood to her side for a moment.
