"What have you done, you autistic beaver?!" Kyle yelled right in front of Justin's right ear, Justin took a few steps backward, trying to help his ear recover from being reprimanded. The gunshot had alerted all the undead throughout the whole town, they knew trouble was coming. A zombie was already sprinting towards the group, his legs limbering and almost tripping along the way. In one swift movement, John lifted up his fist and threw it with all his might towards the zombie's nose, it quickly connected with the zombies' face, effectively knocking him down, at least for a little while. John pulled his arm back and blew on his fist then grinned, just to look cool. "Where do we go now?" Arkin asked with a tone of underlying confusion along with terror. Kyle took a quick look of his town, left to right, up and down. A realization then hit him as hard as a truck going 100 miles per hour, it made him question his intellect as well. "Guys! Follow me!" Kyle ordered them, his instincts told him that the zombies weren't bright in any way shape or form, so this plan had to work. It had to. Kyle ran to the left, limping along with every two steps. The three followed him, their lives depended on this one last minute plan Kyle had thought about, and he had a history of bad planning:
"Kyle, are you sure we should spend our free time looking at memes from Reddit in the library's computer instead of just studying for our test on health?" Arkin asked his best friend, nervously breathing through the dry air the air conditioner produced, "Yeah, why not." Kyle said and with just a few clicks from their mouse, they wasted an hour browsing memes. They later failed their test and Arkin got a score of 12/50, while Kyle got a -1/50 since he wrote on the test paper that the fastest way to lose weight is cutting off your leg.
"Kyle! This better work!" Arkin pressured his best friend, obviously remembering some event from their past. "Trust me!" Kyle said as he finally arrived to where he wanted to execute his plan, a dark alleyway with dumpsters lining up the walls. The alleyway ended with what seemed to be a dead end, it did lead to a few side doors from houses. Kyle quickly limped up to one of the dumpsters, he then proceeded to open one, it was colored blue and full of trash with a scent that was undesirable to the human nose. "Get in." He said in a blank tone, "Wait, what?" Justin asked in confusion. "I said get in." Kyle replied, still in a blank tone. "But, why w--" Kyle slapped Justin, he controlled it to be strong enough just to knock some sense into him. Justin's head was thrown a little bit sideways, his fists were shaking with anger as he glared at Kyle. "Now, you've caused us enough trouble, you idiot. Now, if we wanna live to eat Pringles another day, we need to get inside that bloody dumpster!" Kyle shouted, but silent enough to not attract any more trouble. "Fine." Justin said, obviously defeated in the conversation, his fists unfolded, obviously not enraged any more. With a little hesitation, though he did try to hide it, Kyle jumped inside the dumpster filled with horrible trash, the stink was unbearable, but he would do anything to survive, for her...
The three followed through with the plan, although with a bit more reluctance, 'nobody would blame them' Kyle thought. They could hear the footsteps getting closer, the zombies were finally catching up. Kyle prayed that they were as brain-dead as any person who'd think vaccines were a bad thing. John came in last and closed the dumpster's door, hopefully hiding them from what comes next. The next few minutes were hellish for the group, footsteps got closer and louder, it sounded like the zombies were 3 feet away from their spot. Arkin lifted the door a little to sneak a peek, he looked around for a few seconds, the others were already curious about what Arkin saw. Speechless, he closed the door. "Well? What did ya see?" Kyle whispered sharply. "Around 10 zombies are waiting outside for us, we don't stand a chance if we try and fight them, we don't even have weapons." Arkin muttered silently, obviously uncomfortable. The dumpster was cramped, Kyle had to crawl up in a fetal position, John lied on whatever ground there was, leaning his head on a garbage bag. Arkin sat with his legs crossed, there really was no other option wasn't there? Justin just sat among the trash bags while pinching his nose, the stench was too much for him. "How long do we have to stay here?" Justin groaned, still in an annoyed tone, but somehow more silent. "Until they're out of sight." Kyle replied, nobody wanted to be in their situation. Yesterday they were just watching television, today, they're hiding from deformed, bloodied, man-eating monsters that want to have a taste of their flesh. The dumpster was dark, nobody could see nobody. Every so often, someone would kick Kyle's leg, Kyle would kick back, a little because of anger and mostly because of boredom.
