jimin shrieked, hiding his eyes behind his hands.

"jimin, there is absolutely no need to scream. are you feeling alright?" yoongi asked ever so innocently.

jimin almost cursed the other out.

"i see there are lots of... angry thoughts."

taehyung smiled lazily as he flopped onto his stomach, pretending to swim like a turtle. jimin had no idea what to do. he felt a smile creeping onto his face... this was driving him insane.

"go get dressed, yoongi," jimin gritted, eyes twitching.

yoongi complied, turning to jimin's room and rummaging through his drawers. jimin smacked himself in his face.

and then he waited.

jimin waited for things to go back to normal. he waited for minutes and then minutes turned to hours and then hours turned to days. and yoongi was still not normal. although taehyung was steadily improving, yoongi seemed to just be getting worse. he was just acting so weird around him. jimin didn't know what to say or what to do because anything he did seemed to set him off.

yoongi was a strange one for sure, but now he was just angry. every time jimin approached him, he was angry. every time jimin offered him coffee at work, yoongi would turn him away, horns blazing.

honestly, jimin thought things were getting better. he thought he broke down that wall yoongi had up and was maybe even getting closer, like friends? but he was dead wrong. it almost felt like yoongi hated him, but there was really nothing he could do. he was bound to yoongi and even if he wanted to leave, he couldn't. he found himself thinking that maybe he shouldn't have ever sold his soul back to yoongi. he was a fool.

"h-hey, sir," jimin said, knocking on the door to their office before creaking it open. "you have a meeting tomorrow at ten so i thought i would just let you, uhm, know."

yoongi spun around on his chair, eyes red. jimin felt like he was walking on eggshells. what was yoongi going to do? he felt his heart skip a beat.

"come," yoongi gestured.

jimin found himself unwillingly walking closer, now directly in front of yoongi. his boss stood to his feet, eyes still burning a fiery red. he inspected him, clutching jimin's face between his fingers, turning jimin's head to the side and whispering into his ear.

"i'm not mad at you, park."

jimin shivered in his hold. he could feel yoongi's hot breath on his neck and he swore he felt his heart do a flip.

"i'm merely angry with the circumstance."

but what was the circumstance? all the underworld stuff was taken care of, so he had no idea what was going on. before jimin could overthink any more, yoongi pushed him back onto a chair. he sat down in his own, taking a deep breath, staring at jimin.

"why are you looking at me like that?" jimin asked warily, gulping.

"i'm confused. i own you and i can make you do anything my heart so desires, but i allow you to roam free. i allow you to have all these things other demons' pets would never be able to have, and i don't know why. when i was in hell, i met an old friend of mine. eunhyuk. he owns thousands of slaves all across the globe and told me all about them. but, here i am, owning one and letting him do whatever he wants. eunhyuk told me i must be going soft. am i going soft, park?" yoongi asked calmly. he tilted his head.

"i don't know, yoongi," jimin said softly. "i don't know."

suddenly, yoongi's horns appeared, flaming. "i am."

shit, he was mad.

"i am going soft and it's because of you," he growled as he sprung from his seat, grabbing jimin's chin. "i could snap your neck, jimin. but i can't because i'm going soft. i could take you, but i can't because i'm going soft. i could eat you, but i can't because i'm going soft. i need to get it back, park," his voice was beginning to soften. he breathed for a minute, regaining his composure.

jimin was taken aback. his bottom lip quivered as he stared yoongi in his red eyes. "i- i'm sorry, sir."

yoongi's face fell. "no," he whispered. "no."  he closed his eyes and breathed. when he opened them, they were back to their usual chocolate brown, horns dissipating as well. "you don't get to be sorry." he rested his forehead against jimin's for a moment before pulling away. "thank you for putting up with me, jimin." he snapped his fingers.

jimin was back in his apartment.

"what? no, yoongi? where are you?" jimin called out. "where the fuck are you! you don't get to do this!" jimin crouched down, resting his face in his hands. "you don't get to do this. this isn't fair. this isn't-"

"jimin..." a gentle hand was on his shoulder. "don't be upset... please."

"taehyung, god, i'm so fucking confused, taehyung. i'm so goddamn confused. my best friend is an angel who vapes and swears and- and my boss is a fucking demon who threatened to eat my soul! what the fuck is happening? why is this happening to me? i thought my life was cut out for me after moving here. i thought that after my last job, everything was going to be okay. why... taehyung, why?" he looked up at taehyung, tears staining his cheeks. "i'm supposed to be happy. why aren't i happy?"

taehyung crouched to the floor next to jimin, pulling him into a tight hug. "you're just confused, jimin. things are gonna get better, i promise. i'll make sure of it. after all, i am your guardian angel."

jimin could feel taehyung's smirk in the crook of his neck. he found himself smiling as well, holding taehyung tighter.

"i just wish things were easier." jimin pulled away from taehyung, resting his forehead against the angel's. he stared into his eyes, silently yearning for something in his chest to leap, but nothing happened. it was silent. he felt silent.

"it'll get there, jimin. i promise."

everything was silent.
