"Julian. Relax. You're gonna start sweating and then you'll be all icky." Kara scolded Julian who was getting himself ready for his date tonight with Lori.

"Kara, you know those two ladies that were sitting in the restaurant the other day when you came to visit me?" Julian inquired.

"Yeah. The gingers. What about them?" Kara asked, curiously.

"Well, the older one was Patricia. The lady my dads seeing and the younger one-"

"Was Lori." Kara finished the sentence for him. "Why didn't you say anything before?"

"Cause I've honestly been wracking my brain to figure out why I even said yes in the first place."

"Cause you're... I don't know... nice!"

"Oh. Well, how do I not be nice?"

"That's never going to happen. Remember that time when we were thirteen and we went to that summer festival thing. That one kid that bullied you like all the time was there. He accidentally fell off his bike and hurt himself really bad after he literally just got done making fun of you. And what did you do, Julian?"

Julian rolled his eyes as he said, "And I helped him up and fixed his bike for him.

"Exactly and then what happened?"

"Ughhhh. He still made fun of me in public, but in private he was my friend."

"See my point? You can't be mean. It's not in your nature. The only time you are mean is when you're angry, but you can easily snap yourself out of that if something bad happens to someone. Even if they suck!"

"Okay. Okay. I get your point."

Kara looked pleased, because she knew she was right and Julian did too. Julian finished getting himself ready and then he sat himself down next to Kara on his bed.

"What do I even do, Kara?" Julian was desperate.

"Listen to me. You are going on this date, because you said you would. SHE asked YOU and trust me. That takes a lot of balls for a girl to do. Normally they will wait forever and a day until they are asked out. So give it to her for that. Plus, no one knows your secret except me so you can't expect anyone to not ask you out, yah fruit." Kara nudged him.

He sighed just in time for there to be a knock at the door. Julian got up and Kara and him both booked it downstairs.

"Now. Have fun." Kara added with a wink. "She's cute."

"Oh, shut up." Julian said, before he opened the door to leave.

-

"Who is that girl? I saw her with you at your job too." Lori sounded curious.

"Oh. That's Kara. She's my bestfriend." Julian explained as he drove to their destination. They were going to play some pool at the near by pool hall.

"Oh. That's nice. How long have you known each other?" Lori inquired further.

"Uhm, about 10 years."

"Wow. That's a long time."

"Do you have any bestfriends?"

"Mmm. No. Not anymore."

"Oh I'm sorry. If you don't mind me asking, how come?"

Lori's voice got quiet, "My bestfriend killed herself when she was sixteen."

Julian immediately felt bad for asking, "Oh gosh. I'm so sorry for even asking."

Lori put her hand on Julian's which was resting on his thigh. Julian tensed up.
