Chapter 34

— BETTY'S POV —

All of a sudden, I hear banging on the door and yelling.

?: WHAT THE FUCK BRUTUS! SERIOUSLY?!!

Ugh, he was probably tortured until he told them what happened. I scratch out a little note so that someone from the security camera, hopefully Jug, can see it and find the key. I hide the master key under a chair for Jug just as they break the door down.

B: *cute, sweet, innocent voice* Hi, good evening. My name is Betty, and you are?
?: That's none of your concern. You're coming with me.

I hand out my wrists innocently and he puts a bag on my head and pulls me somewhere else. I can tell that it's a much bigger place because of the echo when he closes the door. He ties me to a chair and pulls off the bag from my head. I force a cute, innocent smile on my face.

B: Where am I?
?: No where. *looks back at other guys* They'll take care of you.

Oh shit. I messed up. Those guys are huge, they're gonna kill me. They could kill me if they wanted to, but I've felt the feeling ever since I got here that they want me alive. They walk up to me. They're going to hurt me.
They do. They punch me in the face with this thing they put on their fingers, it hurts so much worse than just someone punching me. I need to stay strong, but it's so hard while my blood is dripping down my face. They hit me a few times (2 or 3) until they can tell that they did their job, roughed me up, and I now feel light headed, as I feel myself lose consciousness.... please... someone... anyone...... help......... Jug...............

— TONI'S POV —

Since I'm one of the smaller ones, I was tasked with getting into the control room by crawling through the air vent and to plug a flash drive into the camera footage to give Fangs access so that he can find Betty. It's probably my least favorite thing that I've ever had to do, I'm pretty claustrophobic, but I'll do it for Betty. We need to find her. I have a tracker with the earpiece, so Fangs can tell me where to go since he was able to find a blueprint of the place.

F: *over earpiece* You're almost there Toni, it's the next vent. There you go, you're right on top of it now.
T: *into earpiece* How many are in there?
F: *over earpiece* One sec.

He has this cool thing where the tracker can scan heat signatures, so Fangs can tell us how many people are in the room before we go in there.

F: *over earpiece* No one, there's just one person outside guarding it, otherwise, you're all set.
T: *into earpiece* Thanks Fangs.
F: *over earpiece* Of course.

I grab my screwdriver and gently unscrew the vent, so I don't make any noise. When I finally unscrew it, I gently lift the cover and place it in front of me, past the hole where the vent was. I realize that I'm full on shaking. I can do this. I take a deep breath and gently let myself out of the vent and onto the floor. Touchdown. I quickly grab the flash drive and plug it into the security camera station and wait to hear back from him to make sure that it works.

F: *over earpiece* Anddd we're online.
J: *over earpiece* Great job T.

I take a deep breath of relief.

T: *into earpiece* Thanks.

I lift myself out of the room and back into the vent. I grab the vent cover and screw it back on, so there's almost no trace of me ever being there, except of course the flash drive, which is just a normal flash drive, but it gave Fangs access to the security cameras, and he could shut down certain cameras on their end. Fangs is a genius with computers. I crawl my way to the edge of the vent.

T: Can someone catch me?
(R=Random Serpent, changes with each line)
R: Yeah, come right out. We got you.

I crawl out of the vent and my group catches me so that I didn't hurt myself from falling out of a vent that was about five feet from the concrete ground.

T: Thanks.
R: No problem.
R: So, did you do it?
T: Yup!

They give me high fives and hugs.
