34- A New Target

     For a few moments Josh and I just stare at each other not really knowing what to do. I then think back to Chloe's plan.

Flash back
     "We're going to be with you the whole time." Chloe said reassuring me. "Jesse will give you a small headset with a microphone, so don't worry if they try to check you, it's impossible to be seen."

Present
     I was then brought back to the present when Josh finally decided to speak up.
     "I must confess that I am surprised." Josh said in an amused tone. "You betray me and have the nerve to come back here."
    "I did not betray you." I say trying to sound as convincing as I could muster.
     "Bullshit." Josh said with heavy venom lacing through his voice. "I have pictures that show that you were with Carmen. You are supposed to give me a report of the situation."
     "Yeah, but not every five minutes." I say trying to defend myself. "I stopped calling you because you were the one that wouldn't let me do my job. Your despair over Carmen didn't let me do my job. So I decided to do things my way, to have an advance, so you would stop calling me like a desperate mom."
     "You could have told me that you met with her." Josh said still with a cold tone toward me.
     "I was about to do it, until you sent that psycho to kill me." I said with a serious tone of voice.
     "What about Amy?" Josh asked still not fully believing me and my story.
     "Amy only gave me information about the most important people related to the Beale's." I say trying to throw him off our track. "I didn't share my information with her because this is my case. You know very well that I don't like having companions."
     "She has a point." Joshs secretary said from her desks.
     Josh was just looking at me with a bit of anger in his eyes while I looked at him with a rather smug look as to say 'even your assistant agrees with me'.
     "I have information about Carmen, her bank account, her services." I say with confidence. "I also know that the neighborhood is not fully paid. Which means that you can take her money and with that, Barden will disappear and you can approach Carmen."
     Once I say this Josh stands up and starts walking around the room thinking.
     "I can continue working on the case if you'd like." I offer hoping I regained his trust. "But if not, I'll retire and wait for you to give me a new mission, it's your call."
     Josh continued to walk around the room seeming to be deep in thought. He then stops walking and turns to look at me with an evil glint in his eye.
     "No. You will continue working on the case." Josh said with his normal calm tone.
     "Okay." I answer simply not wanting to push my luck with Josh.
     "But Carmen is not your target anymore." Josh said starting to smirk. "If you want me to believe that you're on my side, bring Chloe Beale here." He paused for a brief moment. "And kill her."
     As soon as he said this I was hit with a wave of fear. Josh is asking me to kill my girlfriend whom I love with all of my heart.
