Chapter 8: H e a d q u a r t e r s

During the rest of the week, she was leaving the hospital late, almost at dinner, due to the return of hours that she had to do in the emergency room. After leaving the hospital, some days she visited the Yorozuya and other days she met with Toshirou to eat, which did not last long, since he feared that someone would do something to her if they saw them together, deciding that it would be better to meet at the police station.

So, this afternoon would be the first time she visited the police headquarters, which made her nervous and happy at the same time. Knowing that there were a lot of men, she prepare stuffed buns, enough for the bunch, and a special bun for Hijikata, stuffed with mayonnaise.

After changing her work uniform and fixing her hair, (Y/n) took the large bag full of stuffed buns and left the hospital, heading to the police station. Along the way, she dedicated herself to thinking about how to present herself to so many men together and how to give them the buns, raising concerns as to whether they would accept her at the barracks, increasing her nervousness.

When she arrived at the scene, she was a bundle of nerves, which didn't go unnoticed by the metallic blue eyes of the police officer who was waiting for her at the entrance, with a cigarette at the corner of her lips. Upon spotting the girl, the black-haired man let out a half smile, reaching out to her to help her with the large bag she had on his right shoulder.

-(Y/n), why didn't you call me to go find you? This is heavy enough to bring it all the way here- said Hijikata, reprimanding her while taking the bag.

-I... I'm s..sorry Toshi-nii- answered the female, with her voice cut off by nerves.

He knew it, he had noticed it when he saw her walk. She was nervous about coming to the barracks to meet what she called "his second family". Heading her to the entrance of the place while she followed him, he turned his face, giving her a reassuring look and a half smile.

- Everything will be fine, I'm sure they will adore you- said the male with V haircut, stroking her (H/c) hair- Let's go-he said, walking through the front door with her.

Upon entering she saw the help desk and some others for attention, with policemen who saluted regarding the Vice commander, following the corridors where the men only bowed their heads to see him pass, to finally open the sliding door of a room, where there was a man with dark complexion and black hair (arguably he looked a bit like a gorilla) and a younger boy, with light brown hair, light skin and eyes red. Hijikata whispered to her to enter the room, following her, closing the door behind him.

With hesitant steps, she entered the room, looking at the two men, as the black-haired man stood next to her, pushing her shoulders so that she sat with them, sitting down too. 

-Kondo-san, Sougo, she is (L/n) (Y/n), my sister- said Toshirou, letting out a cloud of smoke. 

-Nice to meet you, Kondo-san, Sougo-san- she said, smiling shyly- I'm happy to meet the second family of Toshirou. 

-Oh! This is that girl you always talked about Toshi- answered Kondo, looking at him with a great smile, turning his face to the (H/c) haired female- Nice to meet you too (Y/n)-san, I'm Kondo Isao, the Commander of the Shinsengumi- he ended, still smiling. 

-Hijikata's sister uh...-murmured Sougo- But why do you have different last names? Are you adopted Hijikata-san? Are you just a poor bastard?- he asked, clearly trying to anger Toshirou. 

-We are not blood brothers, but it is as if we were because we grew up together until he left home- answered the female before the black haired police could say something, trying to lighten the atmosphere that had formed. She opened the bag in which she carried the buns, offering them to the commander- I know it's not much, but I've made these sweets for dessert for dinner- continued (Y/n), blushing and smiling.
