"How did that make you feel, Dylan?"
Dylan frowned, "I don't know... it just made me feel uncomfortable," Dylan replayed the moment Calum had held him by the wrist the other day in school. The images played in his mind the entire weekend, and it became the topic of discussion in his therapy session.
Dr. Reegan closed her notebook and leaned forward, "Do you think the reason you felt so uncomfortable is that it reminded you of how your former partner held you?"
Dylan scoffed, "Probably," he looked down and rubbed his wrist, "I just... don't want to feel this way anymore."
Dr. Reegan nodded, "Did you confront the person that made you feel this way and express how you felt about them touching you like that?"
"No, I just tried to forget about it," Dylan remembered how he had just tried to rub the feeling of Calum's touch off of his wrist as he walked towards the gymnasium to greet his boyfriend.
"You need to face your demons if you want to conquer them, Dylan."
That was the sentence that replayed in his mind the entire weekend. He didn't know what that meant for him. How was he supposed to conquer his demons if he didn't even know what his demons were?
The next day, Jordan had picked his boyfriend up from his house on the way to school. He had honked on his horn and Dylan had met him in the car a few minutes later. The couple had convened in a short kiss before Jordan had started the engine in his car and drove off to school. There they had met up with Jeremy and Cara refuting about a situation that had happened to them over the weekend.
"I can't believe this happened, Jeremy!" Cara had yelled. She walked in circles with her hand on her forehead.
"Listen, it's not that big of a deal! We don't have to tell anyone," Jeremy pleaded.
As the couple neared close, they couldn't help but overhear the pressing conversation, "You don't have to tell anyone what?"
Cara turned around quickly, "Nothing!"
Jeremy shoved her at her lame attempt at concealing their secret, "It's nothing. Cara just doesn't want to tell anyone that she passed out at Melisa's party," He scoffed, "Such a novice drinker."
Cara rolled her eyes at the excuse Jeremy had thought of but played along for the sake of the secret, "Yeah, I just drank way too much that night, and it's super embarrassing that I passed out on the sofa."
Jordan and Dylan had looked at each other skeptically and then back at Cara. "I'm not sure what to believe right now, and I've come to realize that I'm sorry I asked."
Cara had let out a breath of fresh air and had relaxed her shoulders, "Just forget this conversation even happened," the group began to walk towards the front doors, "Where were you guys at the party? I didn't see you guys by the end of the night."
Dylan scratched his arm and opened his mouth to apologize for his overdramatic tangent that night, but Jordan had answered for him, "We just decided to leave early. The party was getting boring anyway."
Jeremy scoffed, "Well you sure did miss out on a lot -
Cara coughed interrupting Jeremy's sentence and sent a warning look at Jeremy. "Come to think of it, you didn't miss out on much," Jeremy stammered.
Dylan furrowed his eyebrows, "You guys are weirding me out. Are you sure nothing else happened that night?"
"Yes!" Both Jeremy and Cara had said in conjunction.
Jordan had protected his boyfriend by holding him back, "Alright, you didn't have to scream at him."
Cara sighed and fumbled with her hands, "Dylan, I'm sorry. I'm just going to get to class. Jeremy come with me before you say something else you shouldn't."
