Lloyd moved swiftly as Zane readied an ice blast. As soon as he moved and the missile shot Zane shot the ice at it. The blast his the missile head on and began wrapping around it before Zane shattered it with a shuriken.
"Oh my god, what do I do?" I yelled as Lloyd struggled to scramble up the side of the submarine.
"Stay put!" Kai shouted as he hung on for dear life. The water was surging in my ears. Goose bumps covered my skin whether it was from fear or the cold.
"Lloyd! There's a panel located on the side of the water vehicle!" Zane told him through the coms.
"My blades are two big to wedge it open!" Lloyd yelled as he tried to dig his sword into it.
Suddenly the mech jerked, flinging me so aggressively the cord that kept me attached to the mech snapped.
Well that sucks. I thought as the water tried to pull me forwards.
"Gwendolyn!" Zane's eyes widened in panic as he tried to reach me. I grabbed the cord and pushed against the current as I hard as I could.
Nya noticed the problem and turned on his motor. The movement was strong enough to push me back. I reached out my hand towards where Zane was but...suddenly I slammed into something.
"Gwen!" It was Lloyd. I had crashed into the submarine. I onto Lloyd's arm and gripped the shuriken he managed to wedge into the weaker metal.
I could see him trying to lever his sword under the panel. I squinted at it. Wait a second....
"That's not a panel." I said.
"What?" Lloyd stared at me.
I nodded to it. "It's painted on, see that shadow? The small amount of light given from Nya's mech should cast the shadow to the right not statutes downwards." I noted.
"How do you know that?" Lloyd asked in awe.
"I'm an artist" I shrugged.
"Huh." Lloyd said. He pressed his hand to the com. "Zane...we have a problem."
"Is Gwendolyn okay?" He asked urgently.
I turned on the microphone. "I'm fine Zane, thank you."
"Jeez, what's it like being the victim of a paranoid boyfriend?" Cole snorted.
I sputtered as Zane snapped at Cole pointing out I literally just slammed into an enemy submarine.
"Guys!" Lloyd cut in. "We have bigger problems."
"Oh no!" Jay whined.
"The panel isn't really a panel, it's meant to trick us." Lloyd explained.
"I can't dodge them much longer!" I turned to see the water mech barely spin out of the way.
"Activate the emergency defence!" Lloyd told her.
"But that could burn out the engine!" Nya exclaimed.
Lloyd pressed his mask covered forehead against the mech with a thunk. "It's the only chance we have."
"How did we get into this again?" Kai moaned. "Oh yeah, Zane met a girl at a restaurant and got us all committed by agreeing to help her."
"Hey! I didn't know Nana was including 'dodging murder' in this!" I snapped.
A vibration made me pause. Lloyd frowned, not liking that at all.
"Uh oh..." I said as the sub suddenly had mechanical arms come out of it.
I screamed as they shot towards the mech.
"Nya!" Lloyd shouted.
"Life or engine...life or engine..." She said sarcastically as they wrapped around the mech. "LIFE!"
She slammed her hand on the button.
Suddenly a giant blast of water exploded from the water mech as the small spindly legs of the water strider twisted into mechanical octopus inspired legs and grabbed the robot arms as the sound of the emergency defence powering up rose above the chaos.
"Lloyd! Gwen! Get out of there!" Kai yelled as the sub recovered from the giant water blast.
I was dazed from the pressure but I suddenly comprehended Lloyd shaking me. I blinked.
"We have to jump!" Lloyd told me.
"What?"
"Now!"
Lloyd flung me forward. I flailed through the current as I felt it tug me forwards. I yelped as I sped to far and past the mech.
A strong arm wrapped itself around my waist. I slammed back into Zane as he tried to reel himself back in as the cord flapped in the string current.
"We gotta go!" Nya yelled as the subs mechanical arms ripped at the tough outer shell of the mech.
Zane helped me grip the side of the mech as another arm swung. Lloyd swung his katana but it reeled back and hit him hard in the head.
"Lloyd!" Kai shouted as he gripped the now limp body.
"Go Nya!" Wu ordered.
Nya flicked a few switches and slid her hand across the screen. "Here we go...."
She screwed her eyes shut as she activated the defence. I gasped as the mech's now octopus legs turned into missiles, they were shot with so much pressure it fought against the current.
"Activating 'Escape Mode'" the mech announced as suddenly water shot from the back, hitting the sub that was already struck by the missiles and shooting his through the water.
Zane wrapped an arm around me and pinned me to the mech. I closed my eyes as the water whipped against me and fought to hold on.
Suddenly I felt the mech lurch from impact and crash hard into something....
