(Nobody's POV)

--Sub-Level #2 of Fisk Tower--

The Kingpin was walking down the hall with a smaller man next to him who was wearing a button-down shirt and leather jacket. This was Mac Gargan and he was the Kingpin's hired investigator and/or hitman, who he was now paying to discover the identity of Spider-Man. Gargan often got his hands dirty during his investigations and was a crude killer in his off time. Unfortunately for Gargan, he had been unsuccessful in his search for the Spider's identity. Kingpin, on the other hand, didn't seem too bothered by this failure as Gargan explained.

Gargan: "I've checked out the Daily Bugle, asked around, snooped around in their off hours, but nothing. The paper says a kid by the name of F/N Parker takes his pictures, but he doesn't work directly at the Bugle. He's just a freelance photographer they pay for the pictures he brings in.
I followed him for a bit but the kid seems like a dead end to me. Could be that the web head wants to be famous and knows that a quirkless kid like F/N could never find his identity."

Kingpin was quiet as they continued their walk.

Gargan: "When I talked to Jameson at the Bugle, he said he'd also pay to see who the spider is and to catch him in the criminal act."

Gargan got angry and balled his fist up in rage.

Gargan: "If I could get my hands on that wall crawler, I'd rip his limbs off one by one. He's given me quite the headache."

He calmed down lightly and looked up at Kingpin.

Gargan: "Uh, boss... you heard me, right?"

Kingpin: "Of course, Gargan. The whole investigation seems very frustrating. But not to worry. I have come up with a way for you to discover the spider's true identity and dispose of him."

Gargan: "You have?"

Kingpin: "Yes. If you would just follow me to this testing room. Let me ask you something: what are you willing to do to get your hands on the spider?"

Gargan: "I'd give anything, boss. He's been sneaking in everyon's business for long enough. He even got in the way of a deal I was trying to make with that Vulture guy on the ferry. I don't care what it'd cost, I just want Spider-Man."

They headed inside a small lab room with a chamber at the other end of the room. A scientist stood behind the desk full of dials and levers, the kind of science Gargan couldn't wrap his head around.

Gargan: "What's all this, boss?"

Kingpin: "Well, I have a little deal going with Oscorp, allowing me to access some of their research and development information and testing. One of the benefits of being one of their biggest investors. The good doctor here has a test with you specifically in mind, Gargan."

Gargan: "Oh, yeah. What's that?"

Kingpin: "Doctor, if you would."

Scientist: "Of course, Mr. Fisk. Not too long ago, researchers at Oscorp created genetically modified spiders which they hoped would pass on their abilities to those bitten by them. Unfortunately, the research didn't lead to much and it was abandoned shortly after to try other means of enhancement. This has led to my research, in which I have genetically modified scorpions with the same hopes."

Gargan: "What's this have to do with me?"

Kingpin: "Gargan, you are meant to be the first human experiment using this method. If successful, you will become an even more skilled killer."

Scientist: "That's correct. You will have greater reflexes, agility, superhuman strength, and the ability to stick to surfaces. Additionally, you will have a sort of 'sixth-sense' as it were."
