(F/N's POV)
My confrontation with Mysterio was a great learning experience for me moving forward. I was able to get a grasp on my new capabilities and gained some confidence with my new crime-fighting career. I may not have had the police on my side, but at least I knew what I had to do and had the conviction to see it through. My newfound confidence manifested in jokes during my fights, a way for me to step away from my insecurities and even as a means to annoy the bad guys into making mistakes.
Unfortunately for me, my confidence and good work ethic brought more attention from the public. J Jonah Jameson in particular continued to criticize my actions and once my official name hit the streets, he had a name to match my mask covered face. On the front page of numerous Daily Bugle newspapers was Spider-Man: Public Menace. The way Jameson goes on and on about Spider-Man would almost be funny if it wasn't actually me who he was talking about. It seemed like the more weirdos I took down, the more ammo he had to shoot at me with. Too bad for him, he still couldn't get good pictures of me, which is where I come in.
I knew Aunt May was having some difficulties and I wanted to help more. She had recently begun another job at a local shelter called F.E.A.S.T., whose mission was to help those in need. Honestly, helping people was what she was best at and this was a less stressful environment for her than her other job, while the extra money didn't hurt. Her boss, Martin Li, was a good man, a philanthropist of sorts who was trying to give back to the community.
When I eventually asked her if I could get a second job to help her out, she told me I was doing enough already by giving her money I earned working in the lab with Dr. Octavius. But that's when an idea came to my mind. Jameson was throwing my name in the mud and making a profit, but he still couldn't get good pictures. He was offering money to anyone who could get him the pictures he needs. Is there any better person to take Spider-Man's pictures besides the man himself. I already had a camera I could use. I began to set my camera up right before I take down some criminals and set it to take pictures automatically. It was awkward at first, but eventually I started getting really good pictures. Besides, Jameson was already making money off of me, so I might as well do the same if it means supporting my aunt.
I called the Daily Bugle and set up and appointment to meet with my most vocal critic after processing some good pictures to present to him.
-- Daily Bugle - Jameson's Office--
I was finally looking at Jameson face-to-face for the first time. He sat in his chair behind his desk while I sat in the visitor's chair as he looked at the pictures I had just given him. I was wearing a button down shirt, a tie, and my camera hanging from my neck. Robbie was sitting in the chair next to me. I was pretty proud of the pictures I took, but he didn't look pleased.
Jameson: "They're crap. Crap. Crap. Mega-crap."
He said the same thing as he went through each photo, which took me by surprise. Does he just hate Spider-Man so much that he doesn't like the pictures.
Jameson: "I'll give you 20,000 yen for all of 'em."
F/N: "That seems a little low."
Jameson handed the photos back to me as his intercom buzzed.
Jameson: "Take 'em somewhere else, then."
As he was talking to his secretary on the phone, I got up ready to leave. Robbie stopped me before I got far and Jameson changed his mind, telling me to sit back down and give him the pictures again. I did as he said.
Jameson: "I'll give you 30,000. That's the standard freelance fee."
He handed one of the photos to Robbie and told him to put it on page one of the next paper and remove the photo they originally had.
