--School, after classes--

Flash and I had our lockers open and were about to leave school for the day when he began to whisper to me. No one was around, so he was free to talk to me.

Flash: "So I noticed you were back on the job again."

F/N: "Yeah... I decided I had to keep going."

Flash: "You seemed pretty shaken up about the whole Felicia thing a few weeks ago. Wasn't sure if you were going to get through it. Glad to see you have. I think there are people who need you who can't rely on other heroes. Y'know what I mean?"

F/N: "Yeah, I think so."

Flash: "And if you ever need anyone watching your back--"

F/N: "Flash, I already told you, I don't want you taking the risk. I'd rather not drag other people down with me."

Flash: "Dragging down? Do you mean getting caught by the police or like... dying?"

F/N: "Both. It's just better if I do this thing alone. But it's nice to know you support me."

He closed his locker and smiled at me.

Flash: "Hey, what are friends for?"

F/N: "You really consider us friends?"

Flash: "Hey, don't get too sentimental, Parker. I already told you that you're going to be my rival now that we both have powers. But, yeah, we're friends. We were when we were very young. Why not now?"

F/N: "I remember back then. Then you got a quirk and began to hang out with Bakugo."

Flash: "I'll own up to my mistakes. I only pretend to make fun of you now so that people don't become suspicious of our sudden friendship. Listen, when each of us move on to high school, I'll drop the act."

F/N: "Okay, Flash."

Flash: "I'm serious, Parker."

I closed my locker and grabbed my bag.

F/N: "Anyways, I better get going. I gotta get my homework so I can go to the lab later."

Flash: "Working late with Octavius?"

F/N: "Nope, he's out of town. Dr. Connors this time. Not getting paid, he just wants to show me about what he's been working on since I've been curious and I want to lend a hand in my free time. He won't be ready till later though."

Flash: "Cool. See ya, Parker."

I took the train home and hit the books early today. Just a few assignments I had to get done. I ate dinner with Aunt May, then headed for the lab once it got dark outside with my backpack in case I wanted to take notes. I hopped on the train and made my way towards the lab. It wasn't long before I made it to the lab. I ran off to my room in Dr. Octavius's lab to drop off my things, then put on my lab coat on and headed back to the main lab, where I found Dr. Connor's wife, Maya, waiting for me. Unlike her husband who had lizard features, she had a normal body.

Dr. Maya: "Oh, F/N. I feel like it's been so long since I last saw you. How have you been?"

F/N: "Hi, Dr. Maya. I've been hanging in there. How's Ban?"

Dr. Maya: "He's been fine. Still in primary school, but he hopes to be working in a lab like this when he's old enough. He's asleep in Curt's office. I'm going to go check on him. Feel free to go find my husband, buried in his work as always."
