Be. Careful. What. You. Wish. For.

But most times our wishes don't come true.

I think it's better that way because most of our wishes and desires are...

Our. Greatest. Destruction.

"Grace!!!"

I screamed as I dashed into the shop and flung myself into my sister's arms.

"Ella, you'll squeeze me to death oo," my immediate older sister, Grace chineye Okonkwo wheezed out.

Laughing, I finally let her go.

It's been almost a year since I last saw her or my other sister.

Speaking of her... I asked,

"Where's Hope?"

"She's in school, she didn't come with me," Grace replied.

"Ella, you've grown oo," she commented.

"Lemme joor, you and Hope just left only me and mommy in the house," I whined.

"Do and enter your school na, by God's grace next year you'll join them," my mom said smiling.

"How's Ebube?" My sister inquired about my brother.

"He's gone to school," I replied then quickly asked, "why didn't you come to the house?"

"To come and do what?" she pulled a face,  "I don't want to see Uche."

She was referring to my dad.
For some reason, my two sisters just couldn't stand him at all.
He was the main reason why they stopped coming back home.
Me, I didn't have much of a choice though as I had nowhere to go and I didn't want to leave my mom.

"Well, at least I've seen you," I smiled.

"What was he doing when you left?" Mom asked.

By ''he'' I know she's referring to my dad.

"He was sleeping but when I wanted to leave he asked me what he'll eat," I replied.

"Agadi nwoke adighi eme ihere nke onwe ya(an old man that's not ashamed of himself)," mom mutters angrily then smiled when she turned to my sister, "Gwa ya ihe kpatara na ị nọ ebe a(tell her why you're here)."

My sister smiled.

Uh-huh, that's a mischievous smile.

"What's up?" I asked.

"So I and Hope decided to give you a little something," she smiled as she brought out nylon and handed it to me.

"What is it?" I asked excitedly.

"Open it," they both coaxed me.

Giggling excitedly I quickly open the nylon and I saw...
