Gunshot

Arlo jolted up upon hearing the blast. "ISEN" Isen, already awake, activated his ability looking for their attackers. "Arlo hide the others behind that hill! The attackers are coming from there!" Isen shouted pointing towards the valley.

Arlo ran down towards his group of students, which were running around in panic. "GUYS STOP" he shouted as loud as he could. Still the students continued to run around.

How was he supposed to get them to listen to him? Arlo stood there lost in thought as the students slowly began to run away from the group. "ARLO WHAT ARE YOU WAITINF AROUND FOR?! DO SOMETHING"

Arlo snapped out of his thoughts. He had it! He knew what he had to do. Arlo took in a deep breath and activated his ability.

Slowly reaching out his hand he placed the barrier around the group of students, expanding the barrier to it's limits. He held his chest as it got harder to expand the barrier. It felt as if it were getting tighter and he found it hard to breathe.

The police fired once again right at the barrier placed around the group of students. It had cracked the barrier. Arlo doubled over and coughed. It was hard to keep a strong defense when he had maxed out the barrier to it's limits.

The students continued to panic. Banging on the walls of the barrier and injuring themselves. They weren't going to make it. Arlo picked himself off of the ground only to be shot at in the leg.

"Augh" he fell to his knees still holding up the barrier around the students. In an instant there were police surrounding him, aiming their guns at his head.

Defeated, Arlo lowered his head, waiting for them to pull the trigger. This was wrong. All of this was wrong. The hatred within him grew, almost suffocating him.

Why were they the ones in charge? Why do they have to kill us? Arlo clenched his fists turning his knuckles white.

He raised his head and looked at one of the officers directly in the eye, his ability still active. "You won't kill me that easily"

Arlo jumped up and grabbed the gun from the policeman and aimed it at the others. He shot an officer in the leg, bringing all of the attention towards him.

Grabbing the injured officer by the collar Arlo threw the body at the approaching crowd.

He quickly aimed his gun at the men and began shooting them one by one. The officers took aim as well and shot him in his dominant hand, causing him to drop the gun.

Once the officers had gathered together Arlo quickly placed his barrier around them, freeing the 3rd and 4th years.

The police men began to shoot at the barrier, trying to break free but instead  ended up killing themselves because of the reflective damage that the barrier caused.

"Arlo!" Arlo turned around and saw a blue haired girl running up towards him. "Elaine?"

Elaine ran to his side and examined his leg. "I saw you get shot and ran here as fast as I could" she said activating her ability. She lowered her hands to his leg and began to heal his bullet wound.

"Arlo?"

"Yeah what?"

"What are we going to do with them?" Arlo turned towards the mass of students. He told Elaine to get the other Hightiers so they could regroup. 

As soon as his leg was healed she ran off looking for the others, Arlo following close behind.
