Margot abruptly awoke from her sleep. She felt a throbbing pain in her head which had jump started as soon as she was sat up in bed; subsequently she began rubbing the sleep and tears from her eyes, while she tried to compose herself from her nightmare. Her nightmares of her Dad's death once again corrupted her sleep. This one however was more like a replay of memories all stringed together. Memories of when he was first diagnosed with cancer, his under going of treatments, his forever change in appearance and his lack of physical strength during those final days. Rather than the various other nightmares she has inured since his passing. Other nightmares depicting him being brutality murdered, or meeting the clammy cold hands of death after freak accidents. But no matter the scenario she just wanted the darkness to swallow her up, as her Dad was a huge part of her life that couldn't be filled.
Once Margot calmed down she slipped out of bed; the cold air instantly striking her exposed skin, goosebumps formed all over her body, making Margot engulf her arms around herself, and she began rubbing her arms to increase the warmth. As she made her way over to the dark wooden table around the corner she spotted the temperature on the state box on the wall. It read 'ten degrees.' Margot immediately had to change that, increasing the temperature to twenty degrees. December is chilly as it and she didn't want to freeze any longer than she had to. Then Margot carried on busying herself looking at the breakfast menu on the table she'd been heading for. One thing she knew was that she greatly needed a caffeine fix, especially after all the alcohol consumed the night before. You'd think a fancy hotel like this would provide a kettle, but not this one.
After a couple more minutes of scanning the breakfast menu she decided on pancakes and strawberries, then Margot picked up the hotel phone placing in her order. She quickly used the bathroom after putting the phone down and then drew back the curtains. The sun light came streaming in through the window. The view wasn't much. Just a brick wall. There would have been a better view in other parts, however Margot didn't care. It was only for one night, the room itself made up for it. Within half an hour her breakfast was brought up and served on a little cart on a try under a sliver metal cloche. Margot had wrapped one of the bed sheets around her barley clothed body when she answered the door. The man seemed to be quite the starer, harmless man by all means but she felt rather uncomfortable. She thanked him nonetheless on his way out of the room.
As soon as he left she picked up the tray and the tv remote. She placed the tray on her lap as she sat on the end of bed and the bed sheet fell around her waist as she turned on the tv, adjusting the volume as soon as it was ready. Margot flicked through the channels as she took the first sip of her black coffee. There wasn't anything good on at all. So Margot settled for whatever was on. The weather. She dropped the remote down beside her then tucked into her pancakes and strawberries, taking sips of her black coffee in between and not really listening to the weather report.
When she was done she put the tray back on the cart and picked up her phone; finding text notifications lighting up on her screen, under 'Sunday 13th December 2020, 8:38am.' Margot unlocked her phone and tapped onto the text message app pulling up the first text from Elouise.
"Don't worry we got back safely. Mary might be a little more drunk than I lol. When will you be back?" Margot couldn't believe Mary to be the drunker one out of the two. "Impossible" she thought. Margot then checked the time the text was sent. It said '5:55am' and she thought about how late they were out, at which point she was already tucked up in a hotel bed by then. Despite her worry she at least knew they were together and back safely.
"Thank god! I wouldn't know what I'd do if you hadn't. Mary? Nah not possible. Not sure exactly but soon x" Margot quickly typed out then pressed the send.
