"She has a shift tomorrow, I'll have to get my nails done." Ar's voice chirped through the phone.
"You went to the library alone?" Seph exclaimed.
"I was drunk, leave me be."
"At four o'clock on a Tuesday afternoon?" Seph looked concerned.
"Did I or did I not get results?" Ar demanded through the phone.
"Yes, because library policy probably states that when loud drunks disturb the peace, get them out as soon as possible, by any means necessary." Seph whispered furiously through the phone.
"Whatever," Ar scoffed, "will you come with me?"
"Now you want moral support?"
"Stephanie."
"Of course I'll come with you," Seph laughed, "I want to meet your girlfriend."
"She's-," she began before losing her vigour, "she's not my girlfriend."
"Oh, Honey." Seph pouted.
"Shut up, Queen of the Underworld." Ar whined.
"Oi!"
"Artemis." Leto's voice murmured in the background.
"Tomorrow." Ar told her.
"Tomorrow."
The phone went quiet and Seph grinned to herself, she really hoped that Alectrona was everything Ar imagined.
She could see it in her head, the pair of them laughing and having fun together- praying it was true.
Seph had grown up with Ar and Lo constantly having to stay at her flat because their father was drunk, or Ar collapsing into a heap after taking so much flack at school- for her home situation or where she lived or a million other things that anyone else would have would have buckled under.
Ar deserved something, someone, she'd been through enough.
Seph's phone buzzed on her leg, the screen lighting up with a picture of blue flame and she chuckled to herself.
"Are you decent?" The short text read.
"At what?" She replied, far too happy with herself.
"Seph, if I portal myself into your room and you're half naked, I will scream." Seph could practically hear Des' husky voice whining at her.
"Is the thought of my naked body that terrifying to you?" Seph wrote back.
"Stephanie."
"Yes I'm fully clothed, you can come over." Seph laughed and set her phone down.
"Was that so hard?" Des asked, walking through the gleaming blue portal with a frown. "You're such a child."
"Look at you," she beamed at him, "walking through that thing instead of falling out of it."
He laughed sarcastically and plopped down onto the end of the bed.
"How was your day?" She cackled, staring at his lifeless body sprawled on her bed.
"Leto does not like me at all." He muttered. "She never took her eyes off of me, the whole time we were over there, I think she thought I was going to rob them or something."
Seph looked at his furrowed brows, involuntarily running her fingertips over the crease in between them, causing him to open his eyes.
Des looked at her with startled eyes, watching her pull back cautiously and continue the conversation.
