When they were ready, the girls followed the Winchesters into the town, Lily driving the car.
"So you've been through this before?" Jackie asked. "The infection, I mean."
"In a way, yes." Lily said. "Definitely wasn't as awful as it is now..with how fast it's taking over the towns..it's practically insane."
"Do you think with what we have will be able to slow it down or anything?" She asked.
Lily shrugged. "I don't know..but we're about to find out."
Pulling into the town, it was like it was deserted years ago. Cars were flipped upside down, some on their sides, some just left abandoned with their doors open. Businesses had their signs left on either OPEN or CLOSED, their lights off. Bodies were strewn about, their eyes staring lifelessly at the sky, some eyes closed forever."Holy shit.." Jackie breathed. "This is horrible..."
"Just a little." Lily said sarcastically, getting out of the car. Meeting up with the boys, Sam gave a nod.
"Let's see what we can see." He said.Weapons at the ready, they walked into the town, the slight smell of the decaying bodies enough for it to be uncomfortable. They came up to a sewer that was surrounded by cones, a construction truck sitting there, its bar lights blinking. Two dead workers lay next to it, their skin pale.
Spreading out a little, the hairs on the back of Lilys neck stood on end, and she whirled around just as a victim of the infection tried swinging at her. Chopping their head off, they immediately fell to the ground."You good?" Dean asked, his eyes big.
She nodded when she looked straight ahead, her body tensing up. "That isn't good though..."
Following her gaze, they saw about a dozen infected people coming right for them.
"How the hell are we gonna fight them off??" Jackie asked."Well, here's to hoping they're not that smart." Dean said, loading his gun.
The infected people were a few feet away, Sam and Dean firing their guns. Cass charged at them with his angel blade, stabbing them in the chest, shoving them aside or burning their skulls with his palm. Lily swung her machete everywhere, hitting one of them, not even thinking twice about it. A couple bullets flew past her ear, dodging it just as it hit one of their foreheads.
Jackie followed Sam and Dean, staying close to Sam as much as possible as they went into the crowd, fending them off. One of them swung at her, hitting her in the jaw. Stumbling, she ran her knife through their stomach, pushing them to the ground as she yanked it out.The chaos died down, leaving their now dead bodies thrown everywhere, the group glancing at each other.
"You guys alright?" Sam asked.Cass nodded. "Yeah, we're good."
Sam let out a heavy breath. "Let's try and get to the hospital, see if there's something there."
"You sure?" Jackie asked. "After what just happened?"
"She's right." Cass said. "I'm sure that drew more attention."
"Well, if we wanna figure out what the hell's going on here, and see how this Amara chick started this, we have no choice." Dean said. "Cass can smite them if needed."
Silently agreeing, they headed towards the hospital, Lily falling back to be by Sam, raising an eyebrow at his weary expression.
"You sure you're okay?" She asked. "You seem on edge about something."
Turning his gaze to her, he shrugged. "I'm fine. Guess the ambush caught me by surprise."
Leaving it there, she kept a little closer eye on him as they continued to go to the hospital to, hopefully, get more answers.
