After congratulating everyone, again, I went to find the girls so that we could walk home together, but on the way out Shoto stopped me. "Y/n, I'd like to talk to you privately, please." He asked, more like stated. "Ah, sure. Here, let's find an empty classroom for a moment." He nodded and followed me out of the door. I remembered seeing one fairly close so we went in there. I turned to the taller boy, and raised an eyebrow in curiosity.

"So what did you want to talk to me about?" I took a seat against the wall on the floor, and he joined me, sitting close but not uncomfortably so. "How are you feeling from your match? You were knocked out, if I remember right, and your jaw was broken." I glanced at my arm, still bandaged up. "Yeah, but it's cool. I'll live. That's not what you wanted to talk about though, is it?" He shook his head, and gave a small sigh again. "You're... interesting. To me, that is, in a good way. I didn't really intend on making friends here, but then I kinda realised that it wasn't like that with you. You're nice to me, genuinely so, and I wanted to thank you for that." "Well duh, I like you, even if you didn't think so, I thought we were friends!" He went a bit red when I said that, and I couldn't help but smile at it.

"You've been pretty conflicted today, haven't you? Not to be rude or anything." He nodded. "Thought so. I can see it in your eyes." Once again, slightly red. I should stop but I won't because I'm a bad person. "If you've noticed, then would you mind if I told you why? I feel as though I can talk about this to you, to be honest." "Of course, it's nice that you can trust me. You don't have to tell me everything, but whatever helps. I'm listening." I smiled, and he began explaining.

"Do you know what a quirk marriage is? Where two people get together solely for making a child that will be perfect, by enhancing the parents quirks or creating a combination of the two. My parents were a quirk marriage, and as you can probably guess, I was the so called perfect child. A perfect combination, half-hot, half-cold." He leant his head against the wall, and looked upwards, closing his eyes for a moment. "My father started training me at 5, and it made me cry and vomit a lot. It was very harsh. My mother would try to defend me, but my father, he abused her and took no regard to her. It was awful."

"I couldn't be around my siblings at all, and I began hating my father. My mother was always there to comfort me though, and long story short all the abuse eventually got to her. Looking at my left side reminded her of my bastard father, so she..." He trailed off, taking a deep breathe. "...she poured boiling water on my face. She'd snapped, and I startled her. I don't blame her though, it was his fault. She tried to fix it immediately after with her ice, but it ended up making it worse. Not long after, she was sent to the hospital, not being fit to raise a child. Today, I remembered my mother's words, and with Midoriya's too, I could forget about my father, if only for a bit, and use my flames. But of course he had to show up and make me remember, so I faltered. I'm confused, with myself more than anything." 

(I feel like I should explain here. His burn is technically an ice burn, as due to his hot side, he'd probably be able to recover/withstand the boiling water. However, putting ice immediately onto a burn like that will make it far worse, due to the fact that the ice damages the tissue further, like frostbite but worse. It was explained in a page in the manga I found, and recently found out. Rei tried to heal the burn with ice, and we all realised that's what made the burn so bad. Some others have pointed this out too, but I feel like it was worth explaining in case I confused anyone. Still Endeavor's fault tho cos yes, he is a bitch - B I C T H. I gotta stop with the meme/vine references whatever. K back to Shoto being a soft boy.)
