chapter nineteen

BILLY BATSON

"Running out on us! Lying! Huh? Then I get a call from the school telling me you've been cutting class, getting in fights?" Victor yelled as I just looked down while Rosa carefully cleaned the cuts on my face. 

I didn't know why Victor's words bothered me, usually wouldn't care about the things that others said. Maybe because Freddy and Audrey are mad at me. I'll admit that it's my fault. I really hate arguing with one of them because they're something to me, especially Audrey, she's really special to me and I care about her. 

I'm just upset because I know that something's bothering her and he's not telling it to anyone, even to me. I just want her to open to me her problems, I want to help her just like she's always helping me.

"I mean, what were you thinking? And then you bring Freddy and Audrey into this?" Victor shook his head. Rosa just sigh and stroked my cheeks before she stood up. "Come on, Victor. I think he gets the point," Rosa reassured Victor as they walked out of the room, leaving me alone.

I put my hands on my face as the events today slowly flashing back. Audrey was mad at me, the only person that I shared my personal life with. She cared for me, when I got here for the first time, she and Freddy helped me with my superpowers. Teaching me all they know about it, skipping class even they knew that Victor and Rosa will be furious at us. 

A small knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. "Billy?" a voice asked as I looked up and see Mary, Darla, Pedro, and Eugene standing on the door. I looked down again.

"You're him. You're the hero," Mary said as I just nodded. If this isn't a bad time, I would be shocked and confuse about how they knew... but now that everything messed up, I don't care anymore.

"Yeah, well, not any more so..." I muttered as silence fell among us. I looked up to them as I furrowed my eyebrows seeing the notebook that I throw was in Pedro's. "Why do you have my notebook?"

"Eugene finished your search," Mary answered. "Look, I'm not a hack, okay? But I have played Watch Dogs and Uplink and maybe I did pick up a few skills which maybe did get me into federal databases that no one can get in to, but--" 

I cut him off as I shook my head and stood up. "Look, I've got to go," I said, I don't want to hear Eugene's ramble. I started to walk out.

"Your parents' names are Marilyn and C.C Batson," Eugene said causing me to stop walking.

I looked at Eugene, "What?"

"You were born in Zumbrota, Minnesota. They were divorced when you were three. Your mom moved you that year. Twenty months later, you got lost. You never found them because your dad's been in prison for ten years. And your mom--" Eugene trailed off.

I widen my eyes, "What? Is she dead?"

"She's two subway stops away."

AUDREY FREEMAN

I chose not to use my powers because the man manipulated me in my mind that if I use my powers, my brother and the others will be mad at me, which the one that I feared of.

We arrived at our house, which Freddy said Billy would be here. The man, who had a name Thaddeus Sivana, rings the doorbell. "You can't cause trouble here, Sivana! There are children inside," I told him.

The man, Sivana, just ignored me but does not do anything to me, probably scared that I'll use my powers against him.

Darla opens the door, her innocent faces filled with a confused expression. "Freddy? Audrey?" she asked as she backs away, frightened by the man in front of her. Who wouldn't afraid if a bald man is in your door?

Sivana pushed us inside. "Oh how quaint," he said and he looks and picks up a wreath that has a picture of us. "Actually, I take that back. What a shit hole."

"Fuck off, you bitter-- ouch!" I was gonna say something when I felt Freddy stomp on my foot. "You know trash talking to villains never ends well in the comics, right?"

"Call Billy," Sivana commands Freddy and he immediately takes out his phone to call Billy. "Freddy, you and Audrey were right. Sorry, I yelled at you and Audrey, where is she? is she alright?" Billy says into the phone as I heard him let out a sigh.

Sivana snatches the phone on Freddy's hands. "Come home, Billy, Come home."

"Billy! Supervillain! Supervillain!" Freddy yelled hoping Billy could hear him.

As much I really want to use the powers that Diana gave me, I can't because my bag that contains the tiara and bracelets are on Sivana. He's holding my bag.

"Who are you? What do you want? Why are you holding Audrey's backpack?" Mary questioned as we all sat on the couch, sticking together.

"What do I want? I want..." Sivana trails off, he watches Billy crashes in the front yard. "That," He continues. "Woah," Eugene breathed in disbelief. "Kick his ass, Billy!" Pedro yelled making us looked at him in a shocked expression. Sivana got really annoyed and send on of his sins or monsters to guard us. If I just could kick it.

"Yes, Billy. try it by all means," Sivana said. "Let them go and I'll come inside!" Billy yelled. "No, first you come inside. then maybe I'll let them go."

"What maybe?! You---!" I didn't continue my sentence as the sin growled at us, which makes me shut up.

Billy walked inside, Sivana summoned the sin back, as it disappeared. "Good boy," Sivana said. "Cause that's all you are, isn't it? How old are you?"

"Basically fifteen," Billy answered and Sivana just nodded and grab Billy's jaw roughly, inspecting him.

"When I was a child, the old man told me I wasn't good enough. yet here you are. A coward, you run from me? And the wizard chooses you? You're not a hero, but I'm gonna give you an opportunity to be one. Give me the power of the champion."
