Zarinna's lids slowly lifted, her gaze occupied by the man before her as he pulled away. Her breathing slightly normalized, unsure now of what to say. She badly wanted to say something - anything, but as soon as her mind came up with a coherent sentence, she felt his fingers upon her cheeks once more.
He didn't speak a word, but his gaze seemed to tell her things words can never express. She lowered her gaze, taking in a breath as she began to speak. "I'll tell the doctor you're awake," She managed to say, and at her word he smiled in percipience.
She stood and began to walk, a bit trembly from what had just taken place. She peered through her shoulder, glancing towards David once more before she closed the door. His gaze was lowered to his hands. Zarinna pulled the door to its lock, releasing a long sigh as soon as she got out. She leaned against the door behind her. What had just happened?
"So how're your classes?" Gina asked, taking another bite of the apple she held.
"Ahy," Zarinna groaned, "It's only Monday but I'm like so stressed already." She spoke and leaned her head on the table.
"Aw," Gina soothed her back, "I understand. You've been literally sleepless for five whole days last week."
Zarinna slowly lifted her head, nodding at Gina's words. It's been two days now since David had been discharged, and the relief it brought her was tremendous. Her mind began to replay what had happened that night, and immediately her heart began to race. Oh my goodness, here we go again.
"Rinna!" She snapped back to her senses, "You were literally daydreaming. You alright?"
"Oh," She lowered her head sheepishly, "By the way, how's the investigation going?"
"About that," Gina anchored her gaze towards her, "I've received information from Pastor Nestor this morning,"
"And?"
"It looks like the fire wasn't an accidental one," Zarinna's gaze widened, "Someone intentionally planned to set the church building on fire."
A gasp escaped her lips, "Really?" She bit her lip in apprehension, "Who would do that?"
