Hi :) "It's Time" by Imagine Dragons .. I just feel like the words really express the first chapter. The girl in the picture as I wrote on there is our main character Kaylee Hoover. That's how I pictured her, but use ur imagination if that girl doesn't live up to what you envisioned ;) Enjoy this chapter<3

~Kaylee's POV~
"Oh COME on, Kaylee, you HAVE to come with me!!" my friend, Gwendolyn, said as she shook my shoulders to emphasize her point.
"Gwen, it's not that I don't want to!! You know I love One Direction but I have AP exams coming up that I need to start studying for, and besides, you know my parents would never allow me to miss three days of school." I sighed.
I really did want to go...but I already knew the answer. I didn't even need to ask. My parents were the definition of strict and anything fun was pretty much out of the question. It could be a good thing, considering I got accepted to Yale's early-admissions program, which never would have happened without them constantly pushing me to do my best. However, I had to sacrifice a lot to get where I am today. I missed countless sleepovers, parties, and outings with my friends just so I could stay home to study, or collect community service hours. Because of this, I lost all my friends one by one...but not Gwen. She was special, and had stayed with me since the 8th grade when we first became close. She understood my hectic life and didn't judge me for wanting to succeed. She was my biggest supporter and I loved her to bits.
"Let me talk to them ... your parents love me!!" she smiled knowing it wouldn't work but making me laugh all the while.
"If only it were that simple." I said with a groan as we sat down to eat our lunch.
It was Tuesday which meant Gwen was leaving early tommorrow morning to drive to New York and camp out for VIP seats to a show called "The Talk" on Friday. One Direction was going to be interviewed and was also expected to perform!! Tickets were free but if you wanted to actually see the boys rather than just hear them from miles away, it was wise to go early and camp out.
"Kayls, you'll never know what your parents are gonna do if you dont ask them. Assume the worst because we both know it'll probably be a "no" ... but try anyway, yeah?? For me?? After all it is for my birthday, and you are my best friend ... I really want you there, boo." she made a pouty face.
This trip was Gwen's birthday gift from her Mom and older Brother, Carter. Her mom was an editor to People magazine and couldn't afford to miss work for so many days so Carter was driving her up and back. He didn't mind though considering Gwen's Mom was paying for the entire trip, and besides that he was extremely overprotective of his sister ever since their Dad walked out on them. Gwen was only two at the time, but Carter was about seven years old the day his Dad left and remembers it vividly. Growing up he always protected Gwen on the playground if she was getting picked on, or was the first one to comfort her when she was upset. It was quite sweet, really. I was an only child, so sometimes I found myself wishing I had such an awesome older brother like Carter.
"Alright. I'll try for you, chick-ee" I smiled and hugged her before the bell rang signaling we had to move to our last class for the day.
~That evening~
I walked inside my house, and took off my coat. Hanging it up on the near-by hook, I called out to my mother who replied from the kitchen.
"Something smells good." I said as I walked in and hugged her from behind. My mother always softened when someone complimented her cooking.
