I slowly walked home. On my way, I saw mom opening the front door. She must have gotten home early. I ruined my prom night, and of course I wasn't happy about that. Still, I didn't want to trouble mom with it. Entering the main door, I just ran upstairs, holding tears from my destroyed night. All I did was lay down for a couple of minutes, until I heard my mom call for me. I was really annoyed at this point with everything. I went downstairs while screaming about what I was called for. There, sitting on the couch, I saw my mom's best friend Jade Berkist, taking weird looks at me. She was such a nice lady, but often very mysterious. I apologized immediately, and just sat on our couch.

-Well, hi Madeleine! How are you doing dear?- the whiny, loud voice of Jade directed to me. She looked me, as if she was waiting for me to tell her about something.

-I could be doing better, but everything its all right now.

-Well, darling, I assume you've met my son.

-I'm sorr—

-Anyway, dear, I decided me and Lily can no longer keep the time in control. Your mother and I decided it's best if you and my son can keep guarding the time. Are you ok with this?- she spoke, in her british voice, gesturing and expressing every single word.

-Well, I—

-Good to hear! I'm proud of you. After all Lily raised you well, - she giggled, and looked at my mom. Jade had a habit of not letting people finish, and now it was just off my limits. I held it in. After all, it was mom's friend of 23 years. She took her jacket and headed out with my mom.

-Well Lily, you can train her first, since she just developed it, but I'm handing my jewel to my son tonight. So you will have to do the honors with him.

-Oh Jade, no. What are you saying? I will train her for a week. They can receive the bracalets both at the same time at the ceremony. Let's just handle it for a week. It won't be that bad, - said my mom, smiling, and just being rather polite.

After Jade left, mom turned at me, and looked me dead in the eye.

-Why, for the love of God, didn't you tell me as soon as you got home, that you met him?

-Who??? I have no idea?

-Her son!

-Mom, calm down, I haven't met her son.

-Madie, she came here running, for that literal thing. She couldn't just lie about it! Anyway, I need to teach you some stuff.

We went upstairs, to my room and she told me to just memorize everything she would tell me.

-There are some special families in the world. These families control different things, so they can keep the balance. Now, you know this. Our family is the one that can visit the future. Other families, for example, Jade's family can visit the past. Without "the time" families, time stops. Just like tonight. Jade and I took off our jewels, and the time stopped. We are getting old, and its now, time for you to hold this fate our family has. I was hoping it wouldn't be you but... I'm sorry. There will be a lot of pain in the way. But you have to be strong. Also Jade's son can help you. He has known this stuff since he was little.

-What about me?- I defended myself. Of course I was so angry at all of this,- Why didn't I know?

-You did. But you kept forgetting it, so I just stopped reminding you.

-Oh wow, what a great reason!

-Please,Madeleine! We want to keep the balance. We don't want the time to stop. We have to keep it going. If time were to stop, there would be no past, present or future. As for the control you will have upon this, we will see. But I suppose you need to use your mind to control it.

-Ok, what do I do, EXACTLY?

-You hold the jewel, do not put it off and refresh it every three days, with Jade's son.

-Really funny mom!How can a jewel be refreshed?!

-You will meet with the past timer, and put your hands together in the lake. Ok, I will explain how a jewel works.

"The jewel takes a drop of your blood, and keeps it running throughout the day. The two jewels connect together, but they should have the needed DNA. The drop of blood should be new every three days. So, you go and just refresh it at the lake."

-I got it, it seems very weird though.

-Well, it is weird, but honey, I will always help you. You can always come at me for help, - she said, coming closer at me, giving me the best hug of all times.

-I will, mom, I will...

Having a grand, mom and daughter moment, Jeremy barged into the room. He came from the dorms, to spend the night with us. He's very sweet in his own way. One time, when mom and dad were out of town, I burned the kitchen. The whole kitchen. Since I was five and he was the big bro, he took all the blame for me, and also got grounded for a month. We used to fight a lot, but I still loved my brother very much. He was also there for me. Now, that I'm almost eighteen, I want to help him pursue his career in engineering. He is in his first year of university, while mom and dad are trying their hardest to pay the school loans.

Actually, earlier this week, I got a job. It was at a café. I got offered to it by Ray, who's one of Rosa's friends. When I got the job, I was in cloud seven. Though my mom, found out, and made me leave it. I worked for a day there, and that was it. This time, I decided to try something like that again. Yet, I still wasn't so sure.
