Nagising sa ingay ng cellphone niya si Cyline na napasailalim lang sa kanyang unan. Pikit mata niyang inaninag ang caller pero ayaw pang bumuka ng mga mata niya kaya sinagot niya na lang nang hindi alam kung sino ang tumatawag. "Hello?" medyo namamaos niya pang sagot.

[Hoy, traydor na bata. Sa wakas at sinagot mo rin ang tawag ko. Ba't hindi mo sinasagot tawag ko eh pinsan mo 'ko.]

"Mario?" tumaas ang kilay na pagkilala sa boses ng tumawag.

[Buti at nakilala mo pa boses ko.]

"Paano mo nakuha number ko?"

[Hiningi ko dun sa asawa ng ex mo.] April Rose, you're so argh!!

"Why'd you call at this hour? It's still early, Mario. Marunong ka bang tumingin ng clock diyan sa condo mo? It's 1:30am. Magpatulog ka naman."

[Eh sa hindi pa ako inaantok eh.]

"Oh ano bang kailangan mo? Para makatulog na ako ulit. Dalian mo ah ayaw kong gumising ng may eyebags. I will strangle you talaga to death."

[Grabe ka naman. Oh eh mamayang 5pm punta ka dun sa restaurant ng crush ko. Sa Vinzil's.]

"For what?"

[Basta pumunta ka. Hihintayin kita dun ah. Pag hindi ka pumunta susugurin kita dyan sa bahay mo.]

"Whatever, bye."

[Uy, punta ka ah.]

"Oo na. Patulugin mo na ako please."

[Hahaha o sige bye na. Dream of me hahahaha]

"Bwesit ka!" pabagsak niyang inilapag ang cellphone sa kama at bumalik na sa pagtulog.

"Who are you talking to?"

Inangat niya ang kanyang ulo. It was Thomas who just came out of the shower. "Just some gigolo."

"Gigolo?!"

"Named Mario."

"Ah your cousin? Why?"

"Magkikita daw kami somewhere later at 5pm."

"And you said yes?"

"I don't have a choice."

"Hmmm, okay. Sleep ka na."

"Good night."

Thomas then headed outside her room and locked the door.

For the past 3 days, she has been staying at Thomas' house because the renovation of her own house, which is right next to Thomas', is not yet finished. Thomas sleeps in the guest room, while she stays in Thomas' own bedroom because the veranda there is close to a large acacia tree, and she loves the scent of its leaves. Thomas kindly allowed her to sleep there. They were used to living together in one house before because Thomas also stayed at her apartment when his fiancé left him. They were there for each other, helping each other heal their wounded hearts.

Thomas had prepared a light meal for Cyline in the kitchen of his house while she was getting dressed in his room. Cyline had only eaten a small lunch earlier, so Thomas wanted to make sure she had something to eat before they met his cousin, Mario. Cyline, dressed and ready, descended the stairs from the second floor and sat on the kitchen counter, observing Thomas as he skillfully prepared a healthy dish for her.

Thomas couldn't help but tease Cyline as he prepared a light meal for her in the kitchen. He knew how easily she got annoyed, and he couldn't resist pushing her buttons.

"Hey, Cyline! I prepared food for you, para may lakas kang harapin ang kung ano mang sasabihin ng pinsan mo. Malay mo dalhin niya si... EX," Thomas said with a mischievous grin.

Cyline rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, her annoyance evident in her tone. "Wow, Thomas, you're so thoughtful. I'm sure this little snack will totally satisfy my hunger," she replied sarcastically.

Thomas chuckled, enjoying her reaction. "Oh, absolutely! Who needs a proper meal when you can survive on a mere bite? I'm sure it'll keep you going for hours," he teased.

Cyline's annoyance grew, and she shot him a glare. "You know what, Thomas? I don't need your sarcastic comments. I'm perfectly capable of finding my own food," she snapped.

Thomas couldn't help but laugh at her reaction. "Oh, come on, Cyline. Can't you take a joke? It's just a light-hearted tease," he said, trying to lighten the mood.

Cyline huffed and looked away, clearly still annoyed. "Well, maybe I'm not in the mood for jokes right now. Just let me eat in peace," she replied curtly.

Thomas realized he had pushed her buttons a little too much and decided to drop the teasing. "Alright, I'm sorry. I'll stop. Enjoy your meal, Cyline," he said sincerely.

Cyline nodded, still a bit irritated, and began to eat her food in silence. Thomas learned his lesson and decided to be more mindful of Cyline's sensitivity in the future.
