Brea leaned against the wall, crowds of people walking passed us getting in early Christmas shopping. The decorations were already set up around the shopping centre, most had been put up right after Halloween.
It was almost the end of November, there was still plenty of time for Christmas but some people were smart and got all their shopping out of the way so they wouldn't need to experience the Christmas rush. Something I also tried to avoid.
Brea looked happy today. The bright pink lipgloss she wore on her wide smiling lips, stood out and somehow made her eyes sparkle."Look at you." She grinned at me.
"What?" I blushed- I knew what she was talking about.
"You're glowing. Anybody could tell." She winked.
I covered my face in my hands. "I am not."
She giggled, "It's nothing to be ashamed of. You're allowed to be happy about it."
"I'm really in love with him Brea, I am. I don't know how it happened or where it came from but I'm glad of it." I couldn't contain my smile.
"It's good to see you so happy. It's good to see us both so happy!" She leapt of the wall, ignoring the lady in her pram trying to push through rudely between us, and hugged me. "Your brother is such a sweetheart."
"About time you found someone who will treat you right." I smiled at her.
Brea frowned suddenly, looking over my shoulder. "Is that Kate coming over here?"
I turned around and saw the annoying yet crazily beautiful girl walking over to us, more like floating by the way she walked as if she was on air.
"Hello, homewrecker." She hissed and flicked back her hair.
"Excuse me?" Brea butted in, standing between Kate and I. "That's my friend you're talking to. She is not a homewrecker so why don't you back off?"
Kate shook her head, ignoring Brea and turning towards me. "I'll get him back you know. You don't deserve him. He's mine."
Wow, she's crazy. I thought to myself.
"He never liked you." I glared at her.
"Then why did he sleep with me?" She slyly smirked.
I gulped. He hadn't told me he'd been with her in that way. He only ever said they kissed. Why would he hide that from me?
"I'll leave that to fester in your mind sweet cheeks." She blew us a kiss and walked off, feeling proud of herself.
Brea grumbled, "I really don't like her. Are you ok?" She asked.
I shook my head. "He didn't tell me that."
"Honey maybe she was lying?" Brea tried to help me but I still felt like I'd been punched in the stomach.
"Why would she say that, knowing I'd ask him?"
"To start a fight and drive a wedge between the two of you in an attempt to get him back?" She shrugged.
"Maybe..." I placed a hand on my forehead, I could feel a tension headache coming on.
"Girls can be bitches." She laughed.
"I know." I forced a smile and pretended to ignore the confrontation but I just couldn't. "I have to go see him." I explained.
Brea nodded, knowing she couldn't change my mind.

I turned up and Nate's place and waited for him to answer the door.
There was no answer for a couple of minutes. I decided to try the doorknob, just in case they left it unlocked. As luck would have it, it opened.
I stepped inside and looked around the room. There was no one.
"Nate?" I called out. "James? Anyone?"
My instincts led me through the house, down the hallway and towards Nate's room. The door was open and as I turned the corner I saw a sight that made me instantly nauseous.
Kate was there. Pushing herself onto Nate and kissing him. I couldn't tell if Nate was enjoying it or trying to get her off. Either way I didn't care.
Why was she here in the first place?
"You've got to be kidding me." I yelled loud enough so they could both hear me. Nate threw Kate off of him and stared at me with panic in his eyes. Kate simply sat there grinning like her plan had succeeded.
"Oh no, Mia, it's not what it looks like." He flew out of the room to catch me as I backed away.
I was almost out of the house when he grabbed me by the arm and pulled me back towards him.
"Please, don't leave. Hear me out." He begged.
I didn't hold back my tears of anger, "I can't believe you."
"She kissed me. I didn't even kiss her back. I tried to get rid of her but she wouldn't leave."
"Right, sure." The tears streamed down my red hot cheeks. "That makes it all ok."
"Mia, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen." His voice cracked.
"Just like you didn't mean to sleep with her too, right?" I snapped.
He paused, "Look, I understand I should have told you but-"
I interrupted him angrily, "When?"
"Mia-"
"When?!" I repeated.
He sighed, "It was after...after we kissed."
That broke me, "Here you were worried about me hurting you when I should have been worried about you doing that to me." I didn't bother waiting for him to explain any longer, I turned and left.
I can't believe he did that.
I should've known my happiness wouldn't last.
It was only a matter of time.
