The next morning, the Great Hall was buzzing with excitement. We got our time tables and took a quick look at them.

"Great, first class is charms with Hufflepuff. It shouldn't be that bad."

I saw Kiera entering the Great Hall with a short, brown haired girl, both talking excitedly. I smiled to myself, glad to see that she was able to make a friend for her first day.

I also saw Percy and Wood walk in, a serious look on their faces. I wanted so badly to talk to Oliver, but the timing just wasn't right.

Alyssa, Jeremy and Roger pulled me out of my thoughts by throwing toast at me.

"Oh, thank God," Jeremy sighed, putting a hand over his heart, "I thought we lost you."

I laughed it off, continuing our small conversation but still having a nagging thought at the back of my mind.

Everything went smoothly during charms, however our next class being potions caused a little dread. We entered the classroom and we're immediately greeted by the "pssst" of Percy Weasley in the front of the class.

We made our way towards him and sat down, the chatter of the classroom getting louder as more students arrived.

The class soon started, Snape's long, drawling voice causing everyone to become quickly irritated. But, soon enough, Snape was interrupted by another Professor and left the classroom for a while. The perfect opportunity.

Some Gryffindors were being loud and acting crazy, while others were quiet and giggling. I took one look around the classroom and noticed Oliver talking and smiling with another Gryffindor girl. My heart was crushed. I knew I had no chance with him, but this just hurt me on a deeper level.

I looked back at Percy who was also looking in the direction of Oliver. "I don't know what that's about," Percy spoke, in a hushed voice. "He calls her bloody annoying everyday."

All I could do was sigh and close my eyes. Why did I even feel hurt? It's not like he was committed to me. I just wish he was.

Before too long the class was back to silence and Snape was back at the front, continuing his painstakingly slow speech. His way of talking always made the class seem longer.

The class was finally dismissed and we all stood up, grabbing our things. As I turned around, I noticed the girl leaning on Oliver's shoulder, him looking very uncomfortable.

I know I shouldn't have, I know I should have just walked away, but Oliver looked so uncomfortable and she wasn't moving to let him up.

I ignored my friends calls and made my way towards the two.

"Hey, Wood. Are you free this block?"

Oliver and the girl looked up at me, her face in a nasty snarl. Oliver, on the other hand, had a thankful look.

"I am, actually. Was there someth-"

"Actually, no. Ollie and I were just going to the courtyard together, right, Ollie?"

Oliver and I looked towards the girl at the exact same time, him with confusion, and me with anger. Maybe jealousy, but I'd never admit it.

"The look on his face says otherwise. Be a shame if you were reported to McGonagall for harassment, now wouldn't it? Leave the poor kid alone and go find someone else to obsess over, this one's taken."

And with that, I took Oliver's hand and dragged him out of the potions classroom, not stopping for a second until we were at the lake.

When I finally let go and turned to face him, his face was a mix of shock, awe, and confusion, and was also very red.
