When he first started bringing her around, I did everything in my power to avoid her, to the point I would hide in my room must days. Afraid that one touch from her would spark those feelings I have been hiding from for all these years. Of course, there was a part of me that wanted to be closer to her because I missed her not for the lover she became but the truth friend she was to me. how easy it was to be myself around her. "hey Laur" Ash voice came from behind me. "what are you doing?" she asked leaning down her warm breath puffed against my ear.

"working on a song" I kept my eyes fixed on the screen in front of me not daring to meet her intense blue eyes. "what are you doing here?" I asked coming out harsher than I meant it too.

"Alex brought me over, so I thought I would say hello" she placed her hand on my shoulder.

"oh hello" I bit down on my lip turning to meet her blue eyes regretting it the moment I did. They were like the ocean they could sweep you away. "you should go I am sure Alex is expecting you" Right after I said that he peeked his head into the room.

"hey Lo" he made his way over to us. She quickly removed her hand from my shoulder dropping it back to her side

"hey" I pushed my chair out standing up to hug him. He pulled me into a quick hug.

"did you get lost on your way to the bathroom?" Alex smirked turning his attention to Ash.

"no, I heard your sister singing and it sounded so good I couldn't stop myself from coming in to tell her" she smiled keeping her eyes fixed on me as she wrapped her arm around his middle. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder pulling her even closer. I turned away to hide the blush on my cheek.

"yeah, she is pretty talented. maybe she will show you some of her solo stuff? Its amazing" my brother said proudly. "what do you say Lo?" I wanted to tell him no to come up with a reason that I couldn't right now but my mind was blank.

"um yeah sure" I bit down on my lip nodding my head. I unplugged my laptop moving over to my bed. I sat down in the middle of the bed. Ashley took a seat on one side while Alex sat on my other side.

It was hard to concentrate on what I was doing with her bare thigh pressed against mine. I was showing her my demo for acid rain when Alex's phone rang. "I will be right back" he excused himself leaving us alone.

"you are so amazing" she leaned closer locking her eyes on mine.

"thanks" I dropped my stare to my lap.

"I see you still aren't good at taking compliments" Ash giggled tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. "I missed you Laur" she said softly. I shifted my stare back up to her studying her face. "I know I don't have a right to, but I never had a friend like you. One that I could be true self without fear of being judged"

"I missed you too" I missed her for so long I don't think it ever went away I just found ways to cover it up.

"do you think we could be friends?" there was desperation in her voice as she dropped her stare to her lap. Can we be friends after everything that happened? Can I be her friend and not have those feelings for her come back? I can't do this. What if Alex finds out what happened between us and it breaks our trust? He might get the wrong idea that I was trying to get her back or something. I jumped up knocking my laptop onto the floor. "Lauren" Ash jumped up wrapping her arm around my waist stop me from falling to the ground.

I felt as if the air was being sucked out of my lungs as my panic took over me. "its okay" she lowered us to the ground. "I need you to focus on your breathing" she ran her fingers through my hair. "look at me" I did as I was told locking my eyes on her. "Good, you are going to be okay" she placed her hand on my cheek. "do as I do" she took a deep breath in before releasing it slowly.
