Your POV

We exchanged pleasantries and laughs over lunch, he was a very sweet guy and had an amazing personality. I had nearly forgot that this was a date, he made me forget about my parents and the usual things I would be thinking about on a date. Like, could I see myself spending the rest of my life with him? It was quite nice and even thought this place wasn't five star, the food was excellent. He talked about his life and how he was using his time in college to find himself. I smiled at him pretending to understand what he was talking about, even though I really didn't get why he was wasting his time at school if it wasn't what he really wanted to do. I never knew a guy to be sleeping on his parents couch with no job, it was all odd to me. He was nice, but I couldn't help to think about the list of the perfect man I wanted. I wanted someone who was driven as me and as much as I wanted to like Elijah, he just had no qualities in him that I wanted in a man. Nonetheless, I didn't automatically dismiss him n my mind. I was just hoping there was something within him that would make me fall for him. Sadly, I couldn't find anything.

"So what about you, what's your family like?", he asked intrigued.

"My dad is an entrepreneur and my mom comes from old money", I started out.

"Cool", he smiles.

"Not really, they think it's part of their job to criticize my life", I frowned twirling my straw in my drink.

"And you?", he asked wanting me to continue.

"Just going to Uni and I love it", I smiled fondly at the thought of my chosen career.

"What are you studying", he asked interested.

"I want to be a teacher", I looked fondly at the thought of changing the lives of little children.

"That's very cool, not many people can stand the thought of teaching younger kids", he smiled at me.

"I love kids and I've been babysitting them since I was a teen. When they would come home with their homework and I would help them, it was an indescribable feeling from that. The way their eyes lit up and the way they hug me as thanks for helping them out. It's a wonderful feeling", I gloat.

"Well here's to you and your calling", Elijah lifted his glass and clanked it with mine.
