[Ezekiel Roswell x Terrence Von Knight]Silhouette of a Bygone: Part 1
"Ezekiel nasan ba yung mga kaibigan mo?"
I smiled a bit to her as I continued swinging and just stayed silent. She's one of our neighbors that I sometimes play with.
"Uy Ezekiel nagtatanong ako eh!"
Makulit. "I have no friends."
That's what my father has taught me. Friendship may be indeed helping each other but friends can also become your weakness.
I never wanted to be like my father. Hence, neither do I want to have any form of fragility.
"Yung tatlong lagi mong kasama? Hindi mo kaibigan mga yon? Bakit parang friends kayo? Nasan ba sila?"
I pinched the bridge of my nose trying to calm myself. She asks too many questions.
I darted my eyes at her and she seemed scared while eyeing at me. I hadn't even said a single word yet.
I just heaved a sigh and answered her question.
"Hindi nila alam na nandito ako sa playground. I didn't bother to tell them since they're all done playing."
I stated and stood up from the swing when I suddenly felt an object flying towards me. My forehead creased upon seeing the ball and was just about to dodge it when--
"H-Hey"
Someone blocked it. What was he thinking?
"Aray.."
"Bakit mo hinarangan?" I asked as I offered him my hand to pull him up. I'm not a weakling I don't need anyone's protection.
"M-Matatamaan ka kasi" he said looking down at his knees.
"Now you're bleeding. Wala pa naman si Mom dito."
"Ayos lang ako" I helped him sit towards the bench and sat beside him. His wound looks painful.
"What's your name? I'm Ezekiel."
I don't usually talk but I guess this is partly my fault even if I didn't ask him to. I need to divert his attention to me not to his wound.
"Terr--" he stopped when we heard an ice cream truck. I think I know how to ease him up.
"Wait I'll be back."
I went towards the truck and bought two ice creams. I do not even have a single idea what's with my decent gesture.
"Here." I gave him one but he refused to accept it.
"I insist."
"S-Salamat" his smile was quite evident on his face.
"Ilang taon ka na?" He asked. Now he's opening up a conversation. Sweet treats can really do anything.
"Seven. Ikaw?"
"Nine na. Kaya pala mas matangkad ako sayo." He said chuckling.
"Tatangkad rin ako. Mas matangkad sayo" I responded with a poker face. He's just two inches taller though.
He talked and talked and I just listened while somehow responding to his chats. Unlike Lamperouge, Blood and Lionhart, he seemed to be more rational. He thinks in a logical way and quite more specific to the things he has observed. I think he and I will hang out a lot.
"Ezekiel? Where are you?" My mood lightened up more after hearing that voice. I stood up from the bench and hurriedly go towards my Mom.
"Mommy" I said smiling.
"Is my baby okay? I heard you nearly got hit by a ball? I brought a Medkit with me." I shook my head and told her what happened.
"Mommy look. He's just on that bench."
I pulled mommy's hand leading her towards him. Blissfulness was evident on my face as we stopped infront of him.
"Mom he was the one who helped me."
My mom leaned down and a curved line was plastered on her lips. I smiled after seeing her this happy. She seemed to like him.
"Hey, young man. I'm Tita Elizabeth. Ezekiel's mother. What's my son's hero's name?" She uttered. He glanced at her shyly and looked down as he answered,
"T-Terrence po"
