This is somewhat of a filler episode. If you want to skip it, be my guest. There's a small summary at the end.

Chapter 3: Kicking some butt

My face shows my concentration. I'm always serious before my match so my nerves don't get the better of me. If someone tells you before their turn he or she ain't nervous, s/he's lying. You always get nervous. Difference is if you can control it or not. You can't let your nerves get the best of you.

Let me explain where I am right now so you don't get a bit confused.

I'm sitting between two blue belt girls, waiting for my name to be called. Already two fights have been done, two more in which I could be called  in.

Its Saturday, day of the Regional Championships. I am at a coliseum. I'm in the 14 years-16 year devision, blue belt, female category. I'm competing against seven other girls. Strong competition, I tell ya.

I invited the girls here to give me some good luck. All the boys had things to do today and only the girls could come. Hunter had a family dinner. Ian had basketball practice. Jake had to visit the hospital, since an aunt had fallen very ill. It doesn't bother me that they didn't come. I understand they can't be here right now.

Like I have last informed you guys, Tang Soo Do is the martial art I practice four days of the week.

There are three categories in which I must compete.

One- my 'Form'. A serious of movements in which you look like you are fighting someone. The one I'm supposed to do is 'sipsoo'.

Two- My 'form with a weapon'. The same thing but this time with a weapon, I am only allowed to use a 'bo'. It looks like a stick that reaches your hight. I'm supposed to do 'bongion- ebu'.

And three- Fighting. You must fight with your opponent until one of us gets three points. You have two minutes to do so. If the time is over, and is a tie, next point wins. If the time is over, and one of us has more points than the other, she automatically wins. Judging by the numbers of opponents on this category, the possible winner must fight two more fights and win.

To get a point, you must kick or punch the person on the chest area or the stomach area. If you kick the person in the face, but you don't make contact, counts as a point. If you make contact to the face, it's a warning or disqualification. It depends on what the judges thinks of it.

It's a very non agressive martial art.

I already did my 'form' and my 'form with weapon', it is time for the fighting. I have my equipment on, which consists on fighting boots, fighting gloves, a helmet and mouthguard.

I am extremely nervous; it doesn't get better even with experience. Plus, it's the first time any friends come and give me support on a tournament. I took a look over the crowd; Samantha, Taylor and Keithlin were beside my parents waiting for my name to be called. Already two fights have been done.

I need to focus now, they are calling the names of the third round.

''Sara Fernandez and Jessie Potter."

A red haired girl with many freckles stood up. I guess she's Jessie. I stood up too and stood on my fighting stand, so did she.

I heard a chorus of 'woo! Go Sara! Woo!' I turned my head a bit to see the girls and parents standing up on their seats yelling like maniacs. What a bunch! Concentrate Sara! You must win this! It is difficult when there are a bunch of people screaming at you to kick some bootty.
