Chapter 14: Bimbo alert!
After Keithlin explained what happened between her parents and Jake's parents, we were all confused. Their parents had, from what was obvious, known each other and had an evident conflict going on. They can't even exchange small talk; just hate to give. Strange. I know Keithlin's parents and they are the nicest people I know.
I'm really sad for Keithlin, she was expecting so much from that meeting and only lost the boy she loved.
Poor Jake. Poor Keithlin.
A week passed and it was like the weather matched our mood. This last week has been pouring rain or snowing.
When Jake finally arrived back to school, he and Keithlin had a talk. The guys and me snooped on the conversation. They walked inside an empty class room, but let the door opened just a crack. I used a mirror to see what was happening inside.
"Keithlin..."
I was the one with the mirror on hand so I could see what was going on inside the class room they were talking in. They both hugged. Keithlin was already crying.
"Um... I have to tell you something. My parents don't..." Jake started to say as he caressed Keithlin's back.
Keithlin shushed him. "I know. Mine too. I'm so sorry... They don't want us together."
They hugged a little bit more. Ok, a lot more. A minute or two maybe?
Jake sighed. "You know, we could—"
"What?" Keithlin asked wiping her tears.
"We could stay together. Without them knowing." Jake said with hope.
My heart was crushed and this wasn't even my brake up!
Keithlin shook her head. "I don't think I can do that."
Jake desperately said. "But why?"
"I don't think I can disobey my parents..." Keithlin said with a cheap smile.
Jake let out a frustrated sound. "Argh! Please! We've been together for a year dating behind their backs! I love you and I don't want to loose you! I'm just... So mad! What do they have to do with our relationship. It's not their lives!"
Keithlin agreed. "I know, I love you too. But Jake, they are our parents. Yes we have been dating for a year, but they agreed to the relationship then! Now... I don't understand them. I can't bear to disappoint them. What if they noticed we started dating again? I would be so ashamed to disrespect their decision."
"But what about us?" Jake asked with unshed tears. "I don't want to loose you." Jake bit his lip, trying not to cry.
Keithlin hugged him tighter. "Jake- I- I'm so sorry... But I think it's better that we stop this."
Jake froze. I noticed he let the tears flow. "I love you."
Keithlin nodded. "I love you too... I'm so sorry..."
The guys and I exchanged a look. We decided it was time to stop snooping and go back to the cafeteria.
Keithlin couldn't bare to talk to Jake about it again. Not since then, of course.
They didn't talk to each other that much. From time to time I saw them exchange sad looks. Gosh, I feel like crying (but won't because I never cry.... Ok that once didn't count! Jonathan blamed me for being like all of the bullies!)
Good thing we were here to take care of Keithlin's depressing self, as good friends should. The boys handled Jake, we handled Keithlin.
It's so sad to see both Jake and her so unhappy. They care so much for each other. I really don't understand why their parents behave that way.
