Chapter 17: The Slip Up
I walked into school with newfound determination. I needed to tell Hunter I was sorry for betraying his trust.
As I sat down on my usual seat in Math class, Hunter walked in followed by Keithlin. I waved at them as they approached, surprisingly Hunter seemed relieved.
"Sara, thank God you're okay! We were so worried." Hunter placed his hand on top of my head, his eyebrows furrowed. "You had us scared!"
I shook my head, making him retract it. "I'm okay. I had a rough day... Hunter, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have blurted out something that was under confidence."
Keithlin bumped her shoulder to Hunter's. "I already talked to him. I know Jake is his friend too. He can also have his secrets."
Hunter nodded. "I shouldn't have kept it from you, I'm actually glad Sara blurted it out." He gave me a cheap smile, "It made things way easier."
I chuckled. "Amazing. I've been torturing myself all night about having betrayed your trust, and here you are thanking me for it."
He shrugged, as he took a seat. "Well, it's not that bad. Now Jake won't need to hide his actions." Keithlin cleared her throat. "I mean... now Keithlin knows!"
I chuckled, exchanging a look with Keithlin. I knew she was still greatly affected, but there wasn't much to do. With that I can completely relate. If the guys we like fancied different people, we need to accept it.
"It's just part of moving forward." Keithlin mumbles, still with an undertone of pain.
The day passed pretty uneventfully. That is until lunch time arrived, where many questions were thrown my way. Jake wasn't with us, which only encouraged the idea he wasn't proud of his decision of dating someone so quickly. On the other hand, Jonathan learned about my outburst yesterday. Samantha made sure to put special emphasis on my slip up.
"It was pretty harsh. She kind of exploded on us, started yelling. Many people overheard." Samantha said to Jonathan, as he looked at me with shame.
I waved my hand. "Oh shush, you aren't special. You were just my last straw."
Sami pursed her lips. "Still, it's not everyday that we see you loose control."
I rolled my eyes. "I told everyone about Jake's stuff."
"Which is he's dating Keithlin's neighbor, correct?" Jonathan looked around with frown.
We all nooded.
Samantha smirked. "Can't forget about the other slip up."
I tilted my head, "Uh, no. No, no. There wasn't any other slip up."
Ian chuckled, "I believe there was, dear cousin."
I mentally cursed him. "Nop. There wasn't."
"You admitted to liking someone!" Taylor announced with a smirk, "Of course it was a slip up."
I tensed beside Jonathan, who looked at me with amazement.
"Really?! Who is it?" Jonathan asked, eyes filled with curiosity.
I tensed my jaw, looking at a very smug Taylor. "I don't want to talk of it, nor do I believe it's important."
"If what the guys say is right, it'd be your first big love interest, right?" Jonathan looked around the table searching confirmation.
