Chapter 14: Multi Mouse

Horror is plastered across my face hearing this explanation.

"What do you mean 'gone'." I ask worried.

"I am unsure but I assume it means gone from existence. That is why I called you here. I think it would be better for me to perform the ritual than you." He says in a very serious tone.

"But why? I want her back just as much as you. Are you doubting how much I want her back?" I say not hiding the hurt in my voice.

"That is not what I am saying at all Adrien. But I don't want to risk anything happening to you. Being I have been affiliated with the kwami magic a lot longer than you I can say definitely that it is tricky. Even if you feel you fill out the criteria for something the slightest thing can cause havoc." He says voice not wavering from its serious tone. "I just don't want to lose you too..."

"I understand father... Alright. I will let you do so, but when?" I ask wondering when I can give Marinette her miraculous back.

"I need to go out of time to get some ingredients for the ritual that I can't buy in Paris. I will be gone a few days and Nathalie will be watching over you in the meantime. Will you be able to handle yourself in your current situation as a hero?" He places his hand on my shoulder and looks me in my eyes wanting a honest answer. After a few moments I reply.

"I truly do not know. But I can try my hardest!" I say sounding confident. "Kagami and I can handle Marinette, without her Kwami any other one she chooses won't be as strong as ours." I say smiling faintly at him. He smiles back and nods as he exits his study. I take this as my right of passage back to my room to see Tikki and Plagg arguing.

"You have to give Marinette back her miraculous!" She says.

"We are, after." Plagg defends.

"This is against every rule the guardians set up and you know it. You can't take another wielders miraculous." She says angrily at the multicolored black cat.

"I have nothing else to say Tikki." He says as he flies to my bed eating some stashed away cheese.

"If I may intrude." Kagami says. "Tikki, I get that you have rules you must follow but can't you also understand what they are going through. The lose of a loved one, a mother at that, can make a family do various things. Even in the pursuit of good it can seen like bad because of a rule. I am not trying to convince you to let them keep your miraculous but I am saying to look at it from their point of views."

She sighs and hovers in Kagami's face. "Look I do get it alright. Their used to be hundreds of miraculous, maybe even close to a thousand. And they were all killed when a senti-monster attacked our temple nearly two hundred years ago. Each Kwami is the only of its species, be it cat or ladybug. And to see hundreds of species gone in the blink of an eye that I called family...." Plagg lowers his ears in sadness as he must be recalling this as well. "I wanted to use my and Plagg's power to wish them all back for the longest but I don't because it's a rule that I can't. Do I hate it, every second of every day but I follow it because it is a rule for a reason."

Nobody says a word at her logic and story but nevertheless I can't give up now. I've ruined to much to let it go so soon. She floats away to the window and looks out of it. Probably thinking of her holder, Marinette. A knock at the door is heard as Nathalie enters. "Kagami-san, it is getting late, we should get you home." Nathalie says looking at us all.

"Right, goodbye Adrien, Plagg, and Tikki..." All of us wave excluding Tikki who stayed at the window.

"Well....I am going to take a shower." Before doing so though I hide Tikki's miraculous so she can not take it and leave before we are done. Upon completing my shower I see Plagg with his head in Tikki's lap as she rubs his fur.
