Chapter 17: Secrets out

"Umm. Surprise..." Was all I could make myself say after the uncomfortable silence.

"Dude you were just using cataclysms." He says mouth agape. "Are you Chat Noir?" Marinette stayed silent this entire time as right now she is at risk of being found out as well.

"Well, noo," I say as technically I'm not Chat Noir anymore since my suit and etcetera are white.

"I am calling bull on that man. You were Saying cataclysm and everything." He says not buying it.

I let out a sigh and sit up on the bed thingy. "Ok, I am kinda Chat Noir. But not anymore." Marinette and Nino both look shocked at my confession to this but I expect it to be more so because I said not anymore.

I pause and Nino speaks up. "We're gonna need you to elaborate."

"Well after stealing Ladybug's miraculous and siding with hawkmoth--."

"You did what! That's why we haven't seen Ladybug in two weeks?" Nino screams.

"Yes, look Nino, this while thing is deeper than you could possibly imagine. Ever since I destroyed the Eiffel tower things have been falling apart but then hawkmoth shower me a reason to keep going. And yes his methods had be betray Ladybug but she betrayed me first." I say.

"What do you mean Ladybug betrayed you first?" Marinette asks looking confused as if she doesn't know what she did.

"That night at the Eiffel tower. Ladybug told me Bunnyx had told her my identity for whatever reason and I trusted Ladybug with it but she still didn't trust me with hers. She was cold and treated me and my feelings like they didn't matter."

"That's a lie!" Marinette says. Knowing her outburst is not qualifying she clarified. "There is no way Ladybug would say something like that."

"Well she did. And being infected my emotions took over me and I used my cataclysm without thinking."

"Woah hold up Adrien. Your exposition is to vague. Back up a minute. Ok you said Ladybug betrayed you but you also said you were infected already. Start there what do you mean infected?" Nino asks while Marinette just thinks to herself confused.

"Ok, about a week prior on one of my patrols alone. I was having a emotional breakdown. You know hawkmoth seeks out people in distress to he tried to akumatised me. It didn't work however I and my kwami became infected with the akuma's magic. Everyday with each transformation it becomes more and more complete."

"Is that why you sided with hawkmoth? Did he promise to heal you or something?" Marinette asks as she didn't know this detail.

"No, he doesn't even know. Everything I am doing is completely voluntary." I say looking down thinking about why I am doing this.

"But why? Adrien you've spent years fighting hawkmoth so why now join him?" Nino asks.

"We want the same thing. He isn't malicious despite his methods. But after hearing him out and finding out his motivation him and I have the same goal in mind." Neither look happy with my answers.

"I have to say it, I don't agree with this one but. But I don't want to repeat the ladybug incident. I'm Carapace." Nino said flinching.

"I know."

"What?"

"I know you are."

"Oh... Well ok then."

"Are you going to try and stop me?" I ask.

"I doubt I can but should I have to I will try...." He says quietly.
