DEBBIE'S POV
It was a cloudy day and the sun was down. The air was slightly chilly and breezy and the smell of sand mixed with dust lingered in the air.
The kids around were playing "catcher" as they ran around chasing each other around with big smiles plastered on their young, innocent faces.
Few people were walking around, enjoying the evening breeze and young lovers were strolling, holding hands, their shoulders brushing together due to the proximity of their closeness with authentic smiles on their faces.
In short, everyone seemed very happy.
I sighed softly and shook my head at myself at the fact I was walking alone and I was very much single and definitely not happy.
A clap of thunder made me jump slightly as i watched everyone rush to their various homes or wherever they were going to and the kids, back to their mothers calling arms.
I took that as my cue to run home too because I didn't want to get into my mums trouble and scolding about being more 'responsible' for hours.
A strong breeze blew, carrying dust and sand into my eyes. The breeze raised my Ankara flared skirt up that it touched my face.
My cheeks heated as I immediately smoothened it down with my hands and looked around me for anyone who may have seen my pink underwear fully in display. I thanked my lucky stars there wasn't really anyone around me and most of the people were just mostly concerned about rushing to shelter to pay attention.
Cold raindrops touched my face and I cursed lowly under my breath. The rain was going to drench me before I got home and that fact alone brought my already depressed mood down a notch.
I looked at my feet when they felt so heavy like the weight of my sadness was weighing me down and the funny fact people, was that i didn't know what was making me this sad. Maybe it was the beautiful weather and its way of rubbing its loveliness on my face or the fact I was going be as drenched as a lost puppy in the rain OR because I was single and very much lonely.
Or maybe it was simply just the time of the month for me.
Few droplets of rain dropped before turning into a heavy rain and it poured painfully on me.
'Shit!' I cursed loudly. Today was really turning out to be a bad day for me and I didn't like it one bit.
I used my hands to shield my face from the pouring rain, my legs picked up as I ran as fast as I could and abruptly, I knocked into something very hard as a brick wall.
I heard someone curse under their breath before I fell backwards onto the ground from the impact.
A hand stretched out to me. 'Hey! Are you okay?' I quickly glanced up towards the owner of that sleek masculine voice and I shuddered not just from the cold. My gaze makes an assessment of a very tall man in his late twenties standing before me clad in an expensive business suit. His eyebrows were furrowed in a deep frown as he gazed at me worriedly.
I eventually placed my hands in his very large ones and he pulled me up carefully, making sure I wasn't hurt in any way.
I stood up fully and I was taken aback by his very tall stature and broad shoulders as he towered over me. My height didn't even reach his shoulders or his upper chest. So I had to crane my head to look up at him. 'Holy Mother of Jesus'
I looked into his eyes unable to utter a word and I knew from that day on he was going to be the doom of me.
