All right, I waited a while, I went off-focus, now I'm coming back to do this ship before I start the less popular and well-known ships.
I would often describe myself as a Todobakudeku multishipper with a side of Kiribaku, and I think that describes me well.
This ship is getting close to my OTP, just because I cannot get enough of the dynamic and relationship and development of these three. The thing that we desperately needed in Todobaku was something in common, as well as a mediator, someone to break up disagreements. Deku fits this role perfectly.
I'm actually a fan of threesome ships in general, which I know is sort of an unpopular opinion. Irl it's fine, I see no issues with it, and when it comes to fandom shipping, well, it opens up a whole new door.
Throughout the Tournament Arc specifically, there was such a clear thing between these three. Each won one of the three competitions, and in their own way. I think each really shows off their area of strength:
In the obstacle course, Deku used his quick thinking and resourcefulness, sure. But the moment that really stuck in my mind is the actual tournament, his showdown with Todoroki. He used his emotional skills to connect with Todoroki and get through to him for the first time in a while. He lost the competition, but really, he achieved his goal. It's like Tokoyami said: "He may have lost the battle, but he won the war."
Todoroki showed his mental capabilities and strategy to win the cavalry battle by assigning each of his teammates the perfect roles and communicating with them the whole way through.
In the tournament, Bakugou simply displayed his absolute raw power, his brute strength, allowing his fury, passion and clear goal to carry him.
There was just so much focus on these three throughout. Everything came back to them.
Aside from that, let's look at the dynamic itself, the relationship.
As I mentioned before, this really works as a perfect balance. We have Bakugou and Todoroki fighting and exchanging passive aggressive comments, probably. And then there's Deku, in the middle, who would love them both. They'd get along for him. You might think that in this bizzare scenario, they'd be fighting over him, but I don't think that would be the case at all. Their mutual affection, however aggressive, would bring them closer in the end.
Idk why, but I just feel so awkward talking about this ship, which is making me second guess myself a lot... maybe it's the fact that I'm shipping three boys who literally are all rivals who are completely different. Maybe it's just because I'm still not super familiar with the three-person thing.
It really just stems from me wanting desperately for my favorite boys to be together happily and it's hard work to ship all of them separately. I really do love their interactions, even if it's hard to explain: just the idea of one if them being super angry and aggressive while still passionately loving the other two, one of them being sweet and happy while also probably able to kick their asses if he wanted, and one of them being op but simultaneously just tired and quiet and done with life. That dynamic is just life to me.
Do I just ship them because I absolutely love them and think they perfectly mirror each other? Perhaps. Do I still ship them anyway? Ha, yes.
Rating: 8.5/10
I'm going to start doing a thing where I do fanart at the end. I might go back and do the same with ships I've already discussed. I just keep finding so many great ones.
