CODE #04: The Mission

Elizabeth's P.O.V.

Sumaludo pabalik sa akin si General Sander bago niya ako tuluyang talikuran. I was about to leave when my Father enter the tent.

"Elizabeth?! What are you doing here?" Kitang kita ang pagkagulat sa mga mata niya.

"I already talk to General Sander, he's going to sent me to the main military base of Japan." I explained it confidently.

"What?!" Shock was all over his face. "Is that true, General Sander?"

"Yes. The spy we sent there last week was already dead." Pagsang ayon niya sa akin.

Tinignan lang ako ni Papa ng masama bago hatakin palabas ng tent.

"What do you think you're doing, Elizabeth?!" Galit niyang tanong sa akin.

"I'm sorry Sir. I need to do this. I want to help."

"That mission was so dangerous. You could've die there! The Japanese soldier will kill you as soon as they find out that you are not one of them!"

"I'll do it. I'll do everything to help our country."

"No! What do you think your Mother would feel about this?! She was already worried sick when I let you join the army! And now this?"

"For our country's sake. I will do this mission, with, or without your support, Sir." Pagtatapos ko ng usapan.

Hindi na siya nakipagtalo pa sa akin. He never win against me during our arguements. Bago kami umuwi, binilinan ako ni General Sander na ihanda ang mga gamit ko. Bukas ay susunduin nila ako sa safehouse namin at ipapaliwanag kung ano ang magiging misyon ko. Tahimik akong hinatid ni Papa pauwi sa amin. He did not say a single word.

Kinabukasan, hirap akong umalis dahil kay Mama. She was crying and begging at me. She's trying to keep me from leaving. Ayaw niya akong paalisin. Hindi ko naman siya masisisi dahil malaki ang posibilidad na hindi na ako makabalik pa. Papatayin ako ng mga sundalong Hapones sa oras na malaman nilang espiya ako ng mga kalaban. But I'm ready. I am ready to die for our country.

"Anak! Please! Huwag kang umalis," pagmamakaawa ni Mama sa akin.

"Ma, I need to do this, please, let me go. I promised I will be back soon." I assured her.

"No! Hindi mo masisiguro iyan anak!"

"Kailangan ko na pong umalis. The chopper is waiting outside."

"Please don't do this to me Elizabeth, please." Iyak pa niya.

"I'm so sorry Ma. I love you." Sa pagkakataong iyon ay unti unti na ring nanlabo ang paningin ko. Nag uunahan na ang mga luha ko sa pagpatak.

Umiling iling na lang din siya habang umiiyak. Hinalikan ko siya sa noo na nagpahagulgol pa lalo sa kanya. I ran. Tumakbo ako palabas ng bahay at iniwan siyang umiiyak sa loob. I can't stay here any longer. I knew that if I do that, baka hindi na ako makaalis pa.

My tears went dry when we arrived at the base. I jumped off from the chopper and go straight to the tent where General Sander is waiting. Sumaludo ako ng makapasok ako sa loob. Sumaludo rin naman siya sa akin pabalik.

"Listen, Soldier Elizabeth Fuentes. Your mission was to report everything that the Japanese soldier will do. Where and when they're going to attacked us, what city they're going to bombed, and of course their plan. Every detail is important." He started to explain.
