It was a week later from night the boys and I hung out. I was in bed sketching when I got a phone call from Louis who was supposed to be at an interview. I picked up and held my phone between my ear and shoulder and continued to sketch.

"Hello?" I say into the phone.

"Hey Kay. Look can you bring my songwriting journal to Syco studio? Management has just informed us that they want a new single out before the tickets come out in two weeks and they want it done as soon as possible." Louis says sounding exasperated.

"Yeah sure do you want an old one and a new one just in case?" I say getting out of bed and walking to Louis' room in search of the journal.

"Please, if you can find one. Niall also wants me to ask if we can borrow your guitar?"

"Yeah sure. I'll grab it now. Anything else?"

"Not that I can think of. Thanks for this Kay."

"Yeah sure no problem. I'll grab some coffee on the way, text me what everyone wants ok?" I say chuckling.

"Thank you!" I hear from the other line. It sounded like Liam but I couldn't be sure.

"The boys say thanks. I'll see you soon yeah?" Louis says.

"Yeah. Give me twenty minutes to get there Tommy."

"Thanks. See you soon bye!"

"Bye!" I say ending the call. I go into my room again and grab an old songwriting journal off of the shelf before putting my guitar into its case. Once that's done I change into jeans and a nice shirt then grab my keys and carry the things to the car. I get in and feel my phone buzz in my pocket. I check it and see it's the boys order.

I quickly start up the car and drive to the nearest Starbucks and get the drinks before driving to the studio. Louis is waiting outside for me and grabs the drinks while I grab the journals and guitar. He leads me to a recording booth and room with the boys lounging in it.

"Hey lads." I say and hand Niall the guitar. "Here you go, as promised. Anything else before I leave?"

"Why don't you stay?" Louis says as he sits down next to Harry and Liam after handing out the drinks to the boys. "I mean I don't mind you being here, you helped write most of my songs already. Do you guys mind? She's good help I mean she's sold a couple of her songs."

"We don't mind." Harry says smiling at me after looking at Liam and Niall. "Which songs did you write then?"

"Oh I've sold most of them because I wasn't going to sing them and they didn't fit with Louis' general theme. Hm let's see I've wrote 'Princesses Don't Cry' that Aviva sang, um Disney bought 'Speechless' off of me for Aladdin, I've wrote 'I'm A Mess' that Bebe Rexha bought and more that I can't remember off the top of my head." I say sitting down. They look at me then to Louis then back to me. "What?" I ask suddenly insecure about the songs' lyrics.

"Nothing, just Disney bought one of your songs?" Liam asks. I sigh in relief before nodding. "Wow. That's awesome."

I laugh and thank him. "So here you go Louis, the one with the red cover is the newer one." I say handing him the journals. The other one has a rainbow gradient on the cover. Both are full of just stuff that's inspired either me or Louis. "I think the old ones from way back, I didn't check just grabbed one to be honest."

"What are they?" asks Niall.

"They're songwriting/inspiration journals. Lou and I started them when we were eight. We filled them with anything and everything like magazine clippings, quotes, thoughts and more. It just helps having a place for the things that help us draw inspiration and it helps Lou and I write songs faster. We have around a hundred scattered round our houses." I say.

"Yeah we even have another few full of almost finished songs that we don't know what to do with." Louis says shrugging. "It was John's idea. He saw that Kay and I wanted to do something with music and create our own when we were younger, so he told us that this would help. And it has."

"That's cool. So how do they help?" asks Harry.

"Lou will tell you I need to make sure Niall actually ends up tuning the guitar instead of just staring at it." I say smirking. I walk over to where Niall is sitting staring at the guitar while Louis explains how we use the journals to Liam and Harry.

"You know you'll have to tune it eventually." I say sitting next to him. "I know it's a beautiful guitar but you won't get anything done if you done tune it."

"I know. How can you not stare in awe at it though?" Niall says looking at me.

"I've grown up with it. It's been a part of my life since I was six, like Louis." I says laughing. Niall laughs as well. "But I guess grandad just made it feel like at was just another instrument that needed playing. He made it seem magical almost. Said that everytime someone played it they went home happy. Anyways let's get this tuned and get you guys a song."

At that Niall started to tune the guitar albeit slowly. Louis has finished explaining the journals to the boys by the time I tuned back into their conversation.

"Wow." Harry says looking at Louis. "That's awesome."

"Yeah they're helpful. Now Kay have you came up with anything recently?" Louis asks tearing his eyes away from Harry's to look at me. I look at Niall quickly and we both smirk before I answer Louis.

"Apart from the thing I was working on last week, nope."

"What were you working on last week?" Louis asks.

"Eh, I was just messing about mostly. Putting words together and all that." I says shrugging. "What kinda song theme are yous going for?" I ask taking the old journal and flicking through it.

"Probably something like we wrote back in 2015. Like pick up where we left off." Liam says.

"Ok let's see. How did you guys use to do this. Like did you come up with the lyrics first or the music bit?" I ask.

"The lyrics first. It was always the easier part." Harry says. I nod and stop flicking the pages in the book as I come across a something in it that seemed like it would help.

"Someday, all the love you've given away, will find its way back to you, and it's up to you whether or not you let it stay." I mumble. "It'll open old wounds, and maybe you'll bruise, but in the end you decide to lay down your armour, or to keep all your defences. Unknown."

I look up from the book and see the boys staring at me. "What did you say?" Harry asks.

"Oh, I was reading one of the quotes. 'Someday, all the love you've given away, will find its way back to you, and it's up to you whether or not you let it stay. It'll open old wounds, and maybe you'll bruise, but in the end you decide to lay down your armour, or to keep all your defences.' By Unknown." I say back. "Pass me the guitar Niall." I ask reaching for it while looking at the words. He gives it to me and I start messing with some chords concentrating.

"Maybe I'll crash into you, Maybe we would open these wounds, We're only alive if we bruise, So I lay down this armour, I will surrender tonight, Before we both lose this fight, Take my defences, All my defences, I lay down this armour." I mumble messing with the chords a bit.

"Ok how about this?" I say then play what I've come up with. "It's only an idea but I think yous can expand on it." I say.

"Yeah, no it's great." Liam says. "How'd you do that so fast?"

"I was raised around music. I've spent most my free days in Uncle John's recording studio. I've developed an ear for music." I say chuckling.

We quickly work through some kinks in the song and spend hours perfecting it. Finally after spending six hours working on the song we finished.
